I usually hem my pants myself with a thread and needle, its really not that hard and with some practice Im actually pretty good at it now. I keep a sewing kit around all the time and just make sure my "tanka" doesnt show on the outside when Im hemming. Im also one of those wierd sizes that doesnt seem to fit in short or regular.
For storage, Ive started to use vacuum bags. Ive sorted my clothes according to seasons and then style: casual, formal, partywear. These things are AWESOME! You store them and suck the air out so the clothes dont get musty or damp. Once the air is sucked out, your clothes are not only protected, the vacuum reduces the overall size of the bag so you can store twice as much as you would otherwise.
Get them, they're cheap and available at Wal Mart.
