Never have had to deal with them directly, Alhamdulilah. Here, community members who have a firearm license can patrol, so this once, we responded to a situation where a man molested a woman. He was then captured and killed in a calculated manner.

**Actually the story of Hazrat Junaid Baghdadi comes to mind, where a career thief/Dakoo entered his house before dawn and was figuring out how to carry away some loot, at that moment Hazrat Junaid Baghdadi was getting up for his prayers and noticed the Dakoo with one hand already severed trying to lift the heavy burden so Hazrat Junaid helped him carry the Loot home, the Dakoo thought this guy was a servant of the household.
The following day the Dakoo passed by the same house and found out from people who he stole from, when he entered the house he came face to face with Hazrat Junaid Baghdadi who had actually helped him carry his own goods to the Dakoo’s residence!
The rest as they say is miraculous…the Dakoo swore to give up his thievery and died a totally reformed Muslim.

Alhamdulillah I have never had to face that kind of situation. But if it would ever happen, my first priority (and I guess everyone else’s too) would be to protect my family from any harm. Make sure the robber can’t get to them. If after that, I see myself in a position to overpower him without taking any risk, I would. Otherwise I’d try to get in touch with the police (if at all possible).
