I just dont get some posts here. Yes Afridi is no saint. But if Afridi provoked him, why dint Akhtar hit Afridi instead of Asif?
Dressing room banters carry on everywhere. In football, hockey, cricket, etc everywhere, England, South Africa etc but you just dont hit a player and that too with a bat. Period!
I believe Asif might have come in between to prevent Shoaib from hitting Afridi. I refuse to believe Shoaib would have attacked Asif in any way- both are from Gujjar caste of Punjab and no two people from the same caste would ever fight- they would have more understanding of each other- my 2 cents

Let's not bring a caste into this. I can imagine plenty of scenarios where people of the same caste could be at each other's throat, but I can't imagine Shoaib thinking "Hmmm Asif is a Gujjar so I shouldn't hit him, but Afridi is fair game since he's a Pathan...."
It was a simple matter of tempers flaring and a situation getting out of hand.

seriously though I think the thing has been blown out of proportion. "national disgrace" and "what about Pakistans reputation" etc is all BS. locker room fights are not THAT out of the world, and while the steroids saga was very serious, this is very ordinary stuff way too sensationalized, and opportunistically used by PCB.

The other day my little 5 year old niece came from outside crying. I asked her whats wrong. She was like ke her friend A says that their mutual friend B likes A better than me. I comforted her and asked her not to worry about it.
This shoaib-afridi incident reminded me of that incident tells us how kiddish this whole incident was.
You niece is better. She was crying though but she did not hit anyone with the bat :)
