Before you sign the agreement please ask your lawyer to check if the said individual is actually a professional

The artist’s country’s lawyer and your country’s lawyer should meet at a common place. You can contact the artist and make arrangements for that.
You should check the matriculation certificate and any other certifications that prove that the said individual is indeed a professional and your $100 will not be wasted.
