christianity preaches "if u get slapped on one side of ur cheek, then turn ur other cheek (so he can slap u there as well)."
Its my understanding that Islam preaches "tit for tat". If you get slapped then slap back. Over the years it has proved to be a better philosophy and thats why even christians follow it. "eye for eye" which was introduced by Islam and was ridiculed first is the main theme of the justice departments in christian nations today. A murderer gets the chair, a terrorist blowing away innocent ppl gets bombs and missiles thrown at him in ruturn etc.
So they have followed islamic principles and made a u-turn from their christian beleifs and christian preachers admitt it.
I hope I am getting through. But you are right about the above incident in the life of Prophet Mohammad(pbuh).

1- check the main page and see who is listed as the moderator for this forum
2- check my prior posts and see if I have had issues with anyone to a point that I would change their posts.
I have no interest in changing anyone's posts in any section that is not mine. I believe in freedom of speech, and I believe that everyone should use that freedom in a mature, civilized and responsible manner. If you apply common sense while posting your post, it will not be edited in my section..arts & culture, where the only post I edited was a few months back and completely perverted.
Once you are done doing that, you may want to edit your question. Or would you insist that somehow I was involved in it still?

Actually the eye for an eye doctrine is in the Bible too (old testament). The supposed "turn the other cheek" change came with the new testament (Post Christ), which by the way the Jews dont beleive in.
Isnt it ironic that this post, the purpose of which was to point out the swearing and cursing going on, and perhaps put an end to it has itself turned into one of the same?

If Kafir refused to convert then it is okay to kill them, I find it unacceptable that God or Allah condones killing people who don't please him. Whole thinking is flawed the concept of toleration and honoring differences is completely missing. I think this is crux of the problem between muslims and non-muslims. In each and every context this is wrong and God can never so be cruel.

The sad part is that People in our worlds(India/Pakistan) have taken the concepts completely out of context and moulded Islam to fit their own comfortable lives.
In short, you are probably trying to reason with cultural Islam. If you really want to find out about Islam, then read the Quran.
If you are truly and deeply concerned with Islam(enough to come and post on this forum), then read the Quran and go to a scholar to understand it.
Asking questions about Islam from people that, although muslims, already may have a distorted view of the religion of Islam will. I'm afraid create more confusion in your mind.
