*nstar777, please don't forget to tell "your friend" that Canada doesn't even have enough residency spots for their own medical students, so he can forget about getting a spot at will here once he graduates from Agha Khan and decides to come back. The United States would be his only choice, and even there the residency situation might be tight. *
near impossible in here now!! they (goverment) came out wit “racist/discriminate” laws about 6 months ago. now people from non-EU countries can hardly get a job in the UK.
before 6months ago it used to be a breeze for indian/pakis to get jobs here coz they were higher on the merit list!! now they look at your passport rather than your exam results!
i have seen stupid polish (cannot speak good english) docs taking jobs away from well trained (high knowledge and good english language) indian/paki docs.
This relates to the backup plan if one cannot get admission in the medical school here and You definitely want to become a doctor.
yaar times are not looking good for docs at the moment! i mean there is very little prospect of paki graduates getting work in USA, Canada and UK. u can go to arab countries tho but i would not like to do that because of their attitude problems.
just keep this in mind. if i was applying for med skool now rather than 6 years ago, i would be getting 2nd thoughts!!
nstar77, the gae has a point about residency spots.
also given teh choice b/w US and canada, why would a doc want to go to canada anyways?
I know a few ppl who went to AKU, one is practicing in UK, one is finishing up residencies in US. no issues for either of them going there or coming back.

how is that, I have met many pakistani grads taking their USMLE or in residency programs here. if you are good, you will do okay.

One of my cousin's wife is doing residency in St. Louis. She graduated from F.J.M.C in Lahore which in my opinion is a bit below the calibre of A.K.M.C. She had no problem in passing the equivalency exam and was lucky enough to find the internship very soon. So I totally agree with you that it depends on the individual.

I have told him that and I believe he is fully aware of the potential difficulties he might face finding internship in Canada/US.
