Agent Vinod banned in Pakistan.

Re: Agent Vinod banned in Pakistan.

well, may be thats something lollywood can work on.
but still it doesnt change any facts which our friends here have objections on.

Re: Agent Vinod banned in Pakistan.

I'll keep my mouth shut on Lollywood because I know what it's worth these days. :)

The point is that negative portrayal of the other side, however subtle or selective, is not going to be appreciated.
One party's perspective or portrayal of reality does not have to be shared by the other party.
Even if there is a feeling of guilt on part of one party on any matter, it would be in bad taste to put it in their faces.
Just like I think a Samjhota Express movie by Lollywood trying to exhibit in India would be rude and unwise (to put it mildly).

P.S. The Indian boy and Pakistani girl theme was old 20 years ago. It's 2012 now. Bollywood needs to evolve out of it.
However, I do not appreciate the recent Bollywood evolution toward sexually explicit content inspired by the distasteful Hollywood tradition.

Re: Agent Vinod banned in Pakistan.

Given the number of countries he travelled in the movie it should have beeen named as Travel Agent Vinod

:omg:

Re: Agent Vinod banned in Pakistan.

i appreciate your stand but my replies werent directed towards you. not every one is as open minded as you from the other side ( from either side for that matter).
It is not about lollywood vs bollywood. it would be silly. there is no competition. its about accepting the fact that it is just a fiction movie. if someone's feeling got hurt then they need to ignore the movie.

PS. the entire reason saif wanted kareena to be pakistani muslim girl was because he didnt want to make it anti pakistan movie. he tried unsuccessfully a balancing act by giving the second lead role to a pakistani girl. He made indians the main bad guys in the movie. Which i find lame though.

Re: Agent Vinod banned in Pakistan.

Thats nice kaka but I am slightly disappointed really. Ofcourse the debate ends automatically when it comes to personal choices and bent of mind but well, honestly, I wouldnt have the same opinion if my country would have made a movie which might hurt the sentiments across the border. More so because I dont really believe in the crap the movies show i.e our neighbours are necessarily bad and evil jerks (as were we portrayed in your Ghaddar, Veera Zara and innumerable other sagas). With these sentiments of having a bias, and haterd for our neighbours, and finding the movies that would portray our neighbours in a villainous way as a good time pass and all that, we only conform to the myth (or maybe the reality) that India and Pakistan can never be friends, obviously because, we support friends, and not mock/villianize them.

We have lived through this negative mentality and propaganda theory for about a century. I guess that has been enough. And I dont think it has given us much, except for increasing mutual hatred, insecurities and poverty. Truce and good will is all we should be focusing on, for our own betterment, if for nothing else.

Re: Agent Vinod banned in Pakistan.

i understand what you are trying to say here. but to understand what i am saying you really have to sit through the movie. it is not even a propaganda movie, it is just a bollywood's attempt in getting in james bond's shoes. it is an action packed fiction movie. nothing more

Re: Agent Vinod banned in Pakistan.

Alright there is no point going on and argue when I havent even watched the movie. But I will take your words for that. No offense. :flower1:
