After Woolmer...

Re: After Woolmer...

^ No thats only for the junior team coaches. For senior team coach, they look around for a brand name coach, and then gir gira ke uss ke paoN pakartay hein, ke khuda ke wastay, hamari madad karo. Jitnay marzee paisay chahiyein lay lo.

Re: After Woolmer…

it also applies to ‘assistant coach’ for senior team, no?

Re: After Woolmer...

I prefer an outside coach because then there is less politics. Also we listen to gorra better than our own people.

But i do think that Pakistan should have Aaqib Javed as an assistant coach under Bob W. That will get him good experience and if not his own country, may be some other country will hire him. And once he proves himself there we can bring him back.

Re: After Woolmer…

I think Woolmer has made it pretty clear he doesn’t plan on staying on beyond his present contract so the option of him extending his contract seems remote at best.

This is one of the reasons why Woolmer would probably not want to extend his stay in Pakistan. Too many people won’t give credit where it is due. Rather than acknowledge the coach’s contribution towards getting the best out of players like Shoaib Malik and Rana, we are imagining how big a kofta Wasim and co would have made of him. I would say that no one can make you into anything unless you are willing partner. So if Wasim and co made a kofta of Miandad it was probably because he came ready to cook with lots of mirch and masala.

Re: After Woolmer...

LOL - Yes you are probably right....More than likely it will be under the table deal.

Re: After Woolmer...

Agree - Aqaib Javed should be involved with the Pakistan set up in form or the other and be working with the likes of Bob Woolmer.

Which other country will hire him as their senior team coach? Do you honestly think Australia, England, New Zealand, Sri Lanka, West Indies, India, & South Africa will hire him with his current experience and qualifications? BIG No. Maybe the likes of Bangladesh, Zimbabwe, Kenya may consider him ........

Re: After Woolmer...

If Bob Woolmer does decide to leave than maybe he can recommend someone to replace him. However the chances are that under the table deal will be done with someone and his recommendation may not be taken into account.

I think the natural succesor should be someone like Dave Whatmore who is a professional coach. He has experience of working with Asian teams as well as being coach in the English county side. With him there should be someone local such as Aqaib Javed as a assistant coach.

Re: After Woolmer…

Re: After Woolmer…

Yes I know that and I mentioned this fact in my other replies above.
