Re: Afghan Family Found Guilty of Honor Killings

Apparently the son is appealing his sentence..

Some background on the family situation before the murders took place: http://www.huffingtonpost.ca/2011/11/22/zainab-shafia-honour-killing-trial_n_1107694.html

Re: Afghan Family Found Guilty of Honor Killings

oh wow........that should be some interesting feat if the lawyer succeeds considering the statements the son has put forth......

e.g. that he saw the car fall into the canal and ran over and dropped a rope into there but realized that he couldn't help them so he left the scene

and particularly considering the fact that the broken left tail light on the car from the canal matches up with the broken headlamp on the Lexus SUV that the son was driving......and that the broken pieces of the headlamp were found near the spot where the Nissan went into the canal.

Re: Afghan Family Found Guilty of Honor Killings

they can honourably live in prison now!

Re: Afghan Family Found Guilty of Honor Killings

No, and my point is that these are pretty much the 3 communities in which family members kill each other over issues of honour anywhere in the world that grabs media attention.

Re: Afghan Family Found Guilty of Honor Killings

The pictures of the young girls are disturbing but they didn't deserve to be murdered. How did the father come across the pictures? Through Facebook/twitter?

Re: Afghan Family Found Guilty of Honor Killings

^He found a scrapbook or photobook or something with more revealing pics of them with their boyfriends which had been hidden at home but a lot of the photos that are posted online were recovered from the cellphone of one of the girls..

Some of the stuff the father has said about them is disgusting, don't think I've ever heard a dad speak about his daughters in such a vile way.. Not surprised the eldest had run away to a women's shelter (but returned home) and the youngest was terrified and asked to be placed in foster care :(

too disgusted to even comment… :teary1:

Re: Afghan Family Found Guilty of Honor Killings

sad story. may Allah guide muslim youth and parents.

Re: Afghan Family Found Guilty of Honor Killings

I don't get it...shouldn't this had been an indicator that they are in grave danger? Why didn't shelter pay more close attention to it despite being an escalated issue. Knowing the background of the family it should have been red flagged but no one did anything to help.

Re: Afghan Family Found Guilty of Honor Killings

Something doesn't add up for a so called honor killing here--why were the first wife and youngest daughter involved? Tragic nonetheless. I do hope the victims' troubles are over with at least.
