It was Noor Jehan FOR SURE !!! that song was sung somewhere in 1971 i think, and its known to have motivated A LOT of soldiers durin the 'war' which caused seperation with bangladesh (east pakistan at that time) !!

This is Shehnaz Begum singing JEEVAY PAKISTAN.
JEEVAY PAKISTAN was originally sung by NOOR JEHAN
for PIA ARTS ACADEMY when my dad (Jamiluddin Aali)
wrote it at the request of Hameed Nasim...PIA Arts Academy
Director as PIA wanted to play it during its Karachi-Dacca-Karachi
flights to serve as an integerity song during early 70's as tension
had started gripping both the wings then.
The song played a few times..got dumped by PIA.
In August-1971, Ishrat Ansari, the Producer at PTV-Karachi approached
my Dad and requested for rejuvenation of this song by looping in Sohail Rana. The original tone and mood of the song was far different then the
recomposition by Sohail. The question arose--who to sing it. Noor Jehan did not come to terms on the tone...hence Ishrat suggested Shehnaz's name which Dad approved and the song was recomposed with a different beat..in B&W..at PTV-Karachi Studios.
It was telecast for the 1st time on PTV on 14th August-1971 at 8 pm sharp...afterwhich he became the most popular national song of Pakistan.
Shortly...Sohail also composed Masroor Anwar's "SOHNI DHARTI..." which too became a superhit and this song is often attributed to be of my Dad..which is incorrect. It was a great work of Masroor Anwar..a close buddy to Sohail Rana..then.
