A hacked copy of Xp or Vista would work till you are ready to install upgrades. that is wjere it will come back and haunt you. Rainbow center copies are hacked ones.
Better yet, if you are in USA, find a freind who works in Microsoft. I got XP professional complete version (not just the UPGRADE one) for 34 dollars (Microsoft employees price)
That $34 is not for the XP license, its the cost for the cd. Another way to get it so find someone in any corporate environment and get the Open License media from them. That version doesn't require any validation et al.
:CareBear: i already have the validation tool so that should be no problemā¦hehe
i even have Vista but i dono how to make it bootable. Iāve tried all the tutorials and everything, i can just never make it properlyā¦
like a bootable would bring up the āpress any key to boot from cdā¦ā
never get that whenever i burn
IMHO forget about Vista... It is a memory and CPU hog and other than eye-candy is no better than what they released as NT4.
Go for Linux, however, if you want to use your favourite Windows programs, then you had better stick with WinXP unless you really want to learn about Wine API to run Windows Apps under Linux. Either that or use alternate Office applications compiled for Linux.
