If you're simply being introduced and there is no formal rishta between you two...then Aunty is sufficient.

Once you're married...Ammi/Mom/Mummy/Adressing her as your hubby addresses her is usually the norm.

Aunty is fine... but mom? no way! you are just being introduced... you cannot call her mom yet.

I totally agree .. dont even think about calling her mom .. that will be like moving forward on the wrong foot

*Call her "aunti". It's just an introduction. The guy's mom hasn't accepted the girl as her bahoo or agreed to a marriage yet, so she should call her "aunti" because it is only an introduction. *

Calling her "ammi" on first meeting is like rushing things and jumping to conclusions that there will be a guaranteed acceptance of rishta from the mom. And the guy's mom (possibly) might not like such confidence and assumption in the girl. Stick to "aunti", it has been tried and tested for generations in desi culture ;)

I’d call her Aunty. After marriage you can call her Ammie etc.

Hmmm, just stick with aunti, can't go wrong with it. Some women even call their MIL's aunti. In the case of guy's mom being younger than the girl...YIKES! I guess she should ask the guy what he thinks she should call the mom in such a scenario, LOL. At least it's a rare one.
