It's actually funny, because I was having this same conversation with a few of my friends yesterday. And they watch ALOT of indian films, whereas I don't watch many indian films, there's only a few odd ones here or there that I've seen...I don't actually watch many english films either. And I think they do have an effect on people, but the clever ones will be able to control their imagination (not in a dirty way) and be able to keep reality and fake land separate. Because reality si what you're living, and fake land is what you WANT to be living.
sweety in english there is a word called suspended disbelief, you go to a movie with suspended disbelief and that is how you seperate the fake from the reality. Well that is what we want isnt it? control the imagination in anways, dirty or not dirty?
I find movies soo boring, i'd only watch em if i had to, say if there was a group of us watching them, otherwise i can't stand them, i luv music but i just get soo bored watching movies :( waste of 3 hours i say! Everything bad and negative comes from movies, and bollywood is just imitating hollywood, hence the movies are getting worser by the day, they are no longer suitable for family viewing...
i dont watch much movies any more..not interested..too much nudity nd sex which makes it akward to watch with family..so just watch dramas instead..:)..geo and ary telefilms too..:)..but now little by little theyr becomin more indianised and more besharam too..kia karein?..:o
we dont have desi tv..and we dont have cable....mom allowed the tv in the house when we started high school! yeah...i think that is one of the best decisions she made!!
as far as movies are concerned...i grew up watching old classics...pre 80s bollywood/hollywood...
I appreciate art cinema...great music/direction..lyrics/scripts...I guess it depends on what is being watched in the house while you are growing up....

Oh i know, i do not know if you watch PTV dramas but tobah astaghfaar there is this drama running these days and in the promo the girl tells the guy tu le ao na usko rakhail banake!! and the guy slaps her and there are many more instances of behayai and besharm and PTV dramas are definitely very edgy and bold these days!

Oh yeah i do watch doosri dastak, i love it and yes it is a little bit decent compared to what is happening in the others. So what dramas do you watch on PTV? Bint e Adam was nice but it was definitely not "clean"

Yes i know i love naheed shabbir but she seems to be everywhere. Bint e Adam is about this girl who is incidently played by Naheed Shabbir and she is tricked in to false nikkah by this "bhai" who is played by Shabbir Jan. The drama shows how she takes revenge on him and also her family who supported him and kicked her out of their house and haram vs halal and all that. Yes i watch Sahara One but i like NDTV Imagine dramas more. I do not know if you get that channel wherever you live.
Indian movies are such garbage... ugh, horrible, they're cheap, they try so hard to be white with their sh*tty accents, they set unrealistic expectations about love and relationships with our youth, I have nothing good to say about indian movies.
The old ones used to be decent, but now, ugh, cheap cheap cheapness.
