The Dark Knight was left out from the best movie category coz the movie was 2 commercial compared to the other moviez which r nominated for best movie.. Thas what I heard on CNN yesterday or 2 dayz ago.. when they were showin sum parts of the nominations.. (not sure whether thas the real reason..)
Happy for Slumdog Millionare! Don't know if the academy will actually give Slumdog any of the awards though. The Oscars are a lot snobbier than the golden globes, so lets not get our hopes up.
Where are the nominations for Leonardo Dicaprio and Kate Winslet for Revolutionary Road? Talk about shutting out a movie completely!
I'm glad that the stick in the academy's backside is not big enough to deny Heath Ledger a supporting actor nod for The Dark Knight. Buy why not give The Dark Knight a best picture nomination? It is the biggest blockbuster in years, with a great story and awesome performances! How can Lord of the Rings: Return of the King, score 11 oscars including best picture, and The Dark Knight doesnt even get a nomination? utter bull!

Oscars are given to movies that are released in America,
It is not an international award by any means,
Last few years Oscars have moved away from favoring popular and commercial movies, it could be a trend or a long lasting one, any way it is Fair one.

The Academy has always and will continue to be fans of so-called 'prestige pictures'. You have to remember the Academy is primarily made up of old codgers who'd rather watch Citizen Kane 100 times than watch anything else once.
Just the way it is.
