ABC's of Saris

Re: ABC’s of Saris

I have been wearing sarees for quite a few years now and I’m not married … and no where near being an ‘aunty’. :snooty:

Re: ABC’s of Saris

smilestar its more than that… makeup, jewelry, and heavily done clothes are for “married women only” the makeup coz uhh my ammi says “face pe ronak kaisay aiygaaa???” after i get married, as if “ronak” is in an eyeshadow :cb:

Re: ABC's of Saris

I love the benarsi and Chendari Material...the sari's are beautiful. But I think saris suit more on tall women than on short/petite!

Re: ABC's of Saris

I just learnt that near bangalore there is a tree plantation area called Coorg and the women there wear their saris with the pleats at the back! How interesting!

Re: ABC’s of Saris

same here… in most “non-modern or traditional” pakistani families, sari is a symbol of a married woman. I don’t think there is any logical reason behind it, just that its one of the few physical traits that seperate married women from single girls. In India i guess it doesn’t matter b/c its their national dress, but for pakistani’s its something different.
