depends on the individual, their intentions, manner of asking, etc
it ranges from explaining and educating, to ignoring, to telling them to piss off and worse.
I have no patience or intentions to engage in a discussion with some bigot who is not there to communicate but to accuse.

I only have been “confronted” or asked after the OBL raid at work when it samehow came up that i was pakistani/muslim. But from what I can tell it wasnt necessarily with any mean intentions, so i responded with calm. But I agree, if the manner/tone of asking is offensive, then my reply would be in kind.
