Re: A Woman's Reflection on Leading Prayer
I don't agree with what Wadud was doing, but I understand the point she was tryin to get across, however misguided it was. But the article was nice, i liked it. Now I can stop feeling guilty for benig sensitive and listening to my heart over my brains (sometimes).
However, the true idea of feminism, doesn't lie in being able to do everything a man does but rather having a choice in how one chooses to live their life and not having to explain themselves to anyone. This principle can apply to everyone, men, women, religious, non-religious, poor, rich etc etc. If I choose not to have a career and stay home and take care of my family, I shouldn't have to feel obligated to answer questions liek "so why are you wasting your time in college?" And on the flip side, I shouldn't have to feel like a radical fem-nazi for working because I don't want to rely on my father or brother for money . . . . . I think feminism is given a bad reputation by women who want to walk around topless and consider that "equality" , just like Islam is given a bad reputation by idiots who blow themselves up for the sex they are supposed to get in the afterlife.....
