How important it is for a woman to be financially independent?

Although in our culture and religion there isn’t an obligation on a girl before or after being married to be earning as her parents and husband should be providing for her, do you think a woman should strive to be on her own feet rather than depending on others for financial support?

Yes !

I think what is more important that girls be provided with an opportunity to get good education and have a good professional degree in hand before they get married. I don’t know if I would telle my daughter to work & earn that time will tell only but yes she has to get a professional qualification before she gets married. If she has skills she can always use them to earn money when required.
