We both share the same birthdays

Happy birthday Pakistani Angel. Are you as old as Wasim.

Instead against South Africa, he should be included in the series against India in Feburary of next year, I know its a little further from now, but that would be even better.

Thanks

:bailan::bailan: I’m not as old as Wasim :mad2:

i have read that wasim akram will be given a grand farewell by the pcb when he'll be included in the one day side to face south africa, in either lahore or karachi

You mean you are older than him.

:nono4::nono4:

if and when Akram plays this match, can someone please let me know especially if it is shown on Dish. I'll bend over backwards if I have to watch this man's last match.

The Zimb/India end was just not right for him or me.

Mr. Whippy
Wisden - All Today’s Yesterdays (3 June)

1966
Birth of probably the greatest left-arm fast bowler in history. Wasim Akram was at the top for almost 20 years, in which time his famous whippy action brought him a record 916 international wickets for Pakistan. His feats are numerous: four wickets in five balls against West Indies at Lahore in 1990-91, two Test hat-tricks, and another two in one-day internationals, a brutal 257 against Zimbabwe at Sheikhupura in 1996-97, which contained a Test-record 12 sixes. Oddly, Wasim has taken more ten-fors in Test defeats (three) than any other player. His annus mirabilis came in 1992, when he demolished England with two unforgettable, consecutive deliveries to Allan Lamb and Chris Lewis in the World Cup final at Melbourne, each a definition of unplayable. For good measure, Wasim and Waqar Younis - partners-in-crime but never great friends - then bowled England to defeat in the Test series which followed. Chuck in the film star good looks and Wasim really does have it all. His great career, which also includes sterling work for Lancashire, was tainted only by his alleged involvement in the match-fixing scandal.

:k: all good articles

Happy Birthday Wasim Bhai and PakistaniAngel. May you guys have many more. :)

It doesnt matter whether Pakistan wins or loses or Wasim fails to take a wicket. It will be his farewell match and a tribute to him and a thanks from the nation to his great services to Pakistan. What will matter will be the fact that the nation will be saying thank you to a great star in a befitting manner.

Very right Ehsan Bhai, I anticipate a standing emotional ovation from the crowd, pakistani players and officials. I hope he gets an emotional farewell from his devoted fans. After all the match-fixing saga and rift-starter allegations, he deserves a througouhly memorable farewell. I would like more on the lines of courtney Walsh who was escorted off the ground under a shadow of bats, A great gesture. This guy has given us over 900 reasons to cherish in both forms of cricket plus his some memorable performances with the bat.

I already miss the sound of *catch eeeeeeeeettt * whenever the ball goes in the air. :D :(

Happy birthday and hope his involvement with pakistani cricket doesnt end here.

A fitting farewell for Wasim](http://uk.cricinfo.com/link_to_database/ARCHIVE/CRICKET_NEWS/2003/JUN/191236_PAK_04JUN2003.html)

**Wasim Akram has responded positively to an offer from the Pakistan Cricket Board to a farewell appearance in a one-day international against South Africa later this year - after he announced his retirement from international cricket last month. **

“[Wasim] had given nothing to us in writing and we want to give him a grand send-off from international cricket,” explained Lt Gen Tauqir Zia, the chairman of the PCB. Zia said the plan is for Wasim to be included in either the match at Lahore or Karachi: “It would be great to bid him farewell in front of his home crowd.”

“It’s a nice gesture on the part of PCB,” said Wasim, who turned 37 on Tuesday. “It would be nice to end my career where I started. I wanted to retire by giving the World Cup to my countrymen but we fared poorly and my dreams were shattered.”

“I am sure it would be just a one-off match because I don’t want to block a youngster’s career,” added Wasim, one of eight senior players omitted from Pakistan’s squad after their first-round exit from the World Cup in March. But it was clear that his ambitions have not yet been entirely fulfilled.

**“I have heard there are efforts to stage two one-day games between Pakistan and India in September this year. It would be a dream come true if I get one chance against India in Pakistan,” he added in an apparent volte-face. “I can’t forget our defeat against India in the World Cup so if I get another chance I will definitely end that with a win.” **

But the PCB still have their eye on Wasim’s expertise. “We want him to train Pakistani youngsters,” said Zia. “It would not be in our interest that he coach and train in England.”

What a great idea to stage a grand farewell match at home for Wasim :k:

I think they should have Waqar in as well and give the two of them the goodbye that they deserve. It’ll be a great occasion and I’m already looking forward to it.

It would be great Wasim can play one more match against India and show them what he is truly made of.

Everyone loves this guy.
Whether your old or young, male or female, green or white, etc. they all enjoyed his cricketing skills.

The enthusiasm of Pakistani Cricket grew emensly because of Wasim Bhai. Pakistani Cricket loses its heartbeat. Remember when Wasim made his return to Old Traford? The crowd just loved him there.. just imagine how Gadaffi Stadium will erupt.

I'd sell my first born son to see his last game, whether it is against Bangladesh. I bet Dish will get greedy and make the match worth $50 knowing for a fact that EVERYONE will watch it.

No, Waqar should not be included, as that will be Wasim's day.
