^ antiobl, the problem with these idiots, from the article:
"Sherry said government officials had given different poverty figures. “According to Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz, poverty has been reduced from 34.46 percent in 2000-01 to 23.9 percent in 2004-05, whereas Adviser to the PM on Finance Dr Salman Shah says that the poverty figure had been estimated at 25.6 percent under the Pakistan Social and Living Standard Measurement (PSLM) survey,” she said."
Big deal! I bet if it were PPP's government for last 5 years we would've seen poverty rate upto 43% or something. These idiots fail to appreciate that atleast there is reduction in poverty, failed to remember Mr 10% belonged to their own previous government (directly or indirectly).
Oh dear me! How ever could it be! A difference between the PSLM survey poverty ratio and the govts figure of, dig this, 1.7%! What proposterous deliberate manupulation of data! Yeah, that sums it all up! All these 7 years, shining Pakistan has been a farce. Mush and Aziz ate up those 1.7% peoples share of wellfare! Lets put BB or Ganja back on so we can have 100% povery! That way we can really be shining Pakistan, shining like the Chore ki Tind (Nawaz)!
"Sherry" needs to see how the investment is rolling in, or maybe even foreign comapnies were fooled by the govt. figures?
Some people will say anything to be on the news...
Correct me if im wrong, but even though the govt overestimated the degree of poverty reduction, the World Bank and ADB revised figures, even though they show a lesser degree of reduction, it STILL shows a reduction in Poverty.. 5 percent poverty reduction is still better then nothing..
Sherry didnt mention that economic conditions in Pakistan are so good that his top brass husband had to leave his job from city bank to make new micro finance bank in Pakistan, and government didnt create any problems for them even they belong to opposition. if the pakistan wasnt a good investment destination why would his own hubby would invest in there also knowing that his wife is in oppsition???
ISLAMABAD, June 19: The World Bank and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) have estimated that poverty rate in Pakistan ranges between 25.7 per cent and 28.3 per cent as against the government’s estimates of 23.9 per cent.
See Bharatis finally have joined the West (instead of Commie Ruskies). This will put both Bharat and Pakistan in the same block with US supporting trade and business with both of them. This has already started getting Bharat out of the commie $hitehole. While Pakistan needs to get out of the tribal Mullahtic $hitehole.
Let me ask you point blank- are you a true muslim? Islam is our guide and our country was founded on the principles of Islam. We can never shy away from Islamic values. Mullahs are jem- they are teachers of Islam and we very much need them to show us our way whenever we forget our duties. Do you know how many ppl in the west admire Islam as the best religion? We should have open borders with our brothers, Afghanistan too. We can't move with Bharat as the large part of the country follows religion we dont have any place in our society. Do you even know idol-worshipping is a crime?
Since when principles of Islam means hijacking planes? Is that your version of Islam Quas bro?
Mullah as a teacher deserves all the respect and he is a called scholar and not a Mullah.
Mullah as a cheap politiko / terrorist /exploiter / seller of Islam, may go to hell.
Yeap. We also need to send in 80,000 troops there to smash all the talibani menace so that our Afghani "brothers" can live in peace.
A muslim worshipping Mullahtic Idols of terror and hate = criminal
An honest, tolerant Hindu worshipping his gods/ idols = A good follower of Hinduism.
So now let's concentrate on "Shining Pakistan" and keep Mullahs where they belong! Gitmo.
WASHINGTON, June 23 (APP): The World Bank has validated the Government of Pakistan’s official poverty estimates as recently published in the Pakistan Economic Survey, 2005-06, says a WB statement issued Thursday. “The Government has maintained consistency with past measures using the same poverty line and inflation indices as used for the 2000-01 estimates,” the Bank statement said. Using this same methodology, it added, “the latest Government estimates show poverty to have fallen from 34.4% to 24%.” “Several international agencies, including the World Bank have validated this result independently.” “It is clear that poverty has indeed fallen sharply between 2000-01 and 2004-05. Of course, there are other ways to calculate poverty estimates useful for analytical purposes but using the same methodology for the official estimates is important to maintain comparability over years,” said John Wall, World Bank Country Director for Pakistan. “These most recent estimations have pointed out weaknesses in the inflation indices used in the calculations, which should be strengthened over time,” the statement added.
