A Jihad for Love: A devout Muslims struggle with homosexuality

Re: A Jihad for Love: A devout Muslims struggle with homosexuality

Yes, I only say yes because I believe it is a great sin to brand someone a non muslim. It’s very hard to find even 2 muslims that 100% agree on every single issue. People are entitled to follow their own interpretations of scripture as long as it does not encroach on the rights of others (but that is a whole different debate), they will answer to God just as I will.

I have not watched the film so I’m not sure, I suppose the guy is assuming that no one is born gay.

I think it could be either or both. I remember reading somewhere (was years ago, cant remeber the source) that a study showed that gay people had been exposed to high levels of testosterone while developing in the womb. If this is the case then homosexuality is a disablity, we don’t abuse children born with spina bifida due to neutral tube defects so why abuse gays.
Environment can play a big role too, I think one factor is societies attitude towards women. Back in the day in places like Rome and Greece homosexuality was rife and the norm. Their attitude was that a womens purpose was for producing children only, they had contempt for women and did not see them worthy of love. They married for children but their emotional and intimate sexual relationships were for men only.

Yes you can but sexual relations with the same sex is prohibited. In my opinion been gay is not the sin, it’s the sexual act that is. We all have our tests in this life, some peoples are harder then others, if you are gay you should not get married and not act on your desires.

The muslims that oppress. If the gay person is fighting their demons and not acting on their desires they are a true martyr in my opinion.
