micro-credit banks are present in some of the poorest countries of the world, most of whom havent experienced the kind of growth india has. these banks are infact an ARTIFACT of poverty. Nor have micro-credit banks played a role in India's development. as thorough a strawman as I ever saw.
Someone from Congo or Sudan, for example, could cite the presence of microcredit banks there as evidence of a great economy or one experiencing strong growth. Not many intelligent people would do that, but people have their reasons.
