** - What do non-smokers want to say to smokers ?**
It’s honestly not worth it. There are people who need and depend on you. Your self destructive behavior is extremely timorous, selfish and pitiable.
Personally speaking, I have witnessed multiple agonizing surgeries related to cancerous tumors of the mouth and lungs. The patients literally vociferate in agony. It’s traumatic for the families. Your addiction is not worth a speck of that pain. You still have time to fix up.
Also, quit using anxiety as a scapegoat. We all have stressful lives, yours is not extraterrestrial and neither are you. Cigarettes are proven to increase negative emotion and depression. It’s never too late to quit. All you need is commitment to yourself and self restraint.
If you’re doing it out of plain lethargy or tedium: Go on a leisure pursuit and discover new hobbies. Cut your obnoxious apathy. Stop wasting away.
- What do you think of smokers ?
They are pessimistic creatures with very little self control. Some of them are busy searching for external motivation that they need in order to quit. Motivation lies within.
**- Do you hate them and curse them for polluting your breathing space ? **
Yes. Hate. Despise. Abhor. Previously I wasn’t, but recently I’ve started taking second hand smoke quite seriously. When I’m outside, I’m outside for fresh air. Not to smell a walking ashtray. If they settle to smoke nearby, they better find themselves a private, segregated room for it. Not to sound rude, but those who opt to speak with me, should expect to be told to rinse their mouths first. Polluted contaminants going up my nostrils into my lungs is the last thing I’m up for. I’ve had it.
- Does it take away from the charm of an otherwise sparkling personality ?
Yes. As posh as they strive to be, I’ve discriminated them as highly unattractive. I relocate several yards away from them with the sensitive nose that I have.
Am I making too much out of this ?
Not at all. They deserve both the agitation and the embarrassment of it.
Should we just let them be and stop harassing them ?
No. We should harass them until they go extinct. And then we’ll oscillate towards drug addicts as our next target.
Isn’t smoking forbidden in our religion just like alcohol ?
Anything that is catastrophic to the body or causes addiction is makrooh [offensive / disliked].
**There are verses in the Qur’an condemning smoking. **
Indirectly, yes. Qur’an orders us to avoid suicide as well as any form of self destruction. Smoking itself is quite cataclysmic in its own terms. It’s also a waste of wealth [which is also forbidden]. Plus, obsessive smokers struggle to fast at any given time of the year: a barrier between the smoker and religion? I think so.
