8 year is a long time for any regime to implement its plan… in America you don’t get more than 8 years… In couple of weeks it will be 8 years for musharaf in power and at the start of his “ill fated promised” of three years he promised to deliver on these 7 points…

1. Rebuild national confidence and morale

2. Strengthen the Federation, remove inter-provincial disharmony, and restore national cohesion

3. Revive the economy and restore investor’s confidence

4. Ensure law and order and dispense speedy justice

5. Depoliticise state institutions

6. Devolution of power to the grassroots level

7. Ensure swift and across-the-board accountability

If i try to be most pro musharraf i can’t find how can i give him more than 1/7 marks in his result card…?

anyway i won’t be replying… because the facts are on the ground and even the blind can feel them… so nothing to debate in my view… if somebody is debating on them then i wander how is he fasting..

So This is just a reminder post..

The *real facts *on the ground are that ppl do not see and refuse to acknowledge even when fasting, is simply and plainly that Musharraf *has *definitely and absolutely delivered, and better and more than any other past govt and with better planning and focus than any other possible leaderships hovering right now that might be in power in the years to come since they all lack focus and planning on issues.
If one can only agrre to see and feel, atleast in comparison if not in isloation, Musharraf has undoubtedly delivered on points;

1: from 2000-2007 did anyone want to go back to pre 1999?
2: he has tried more than anyone and bears the brunt when sleeping beasts of issues are awaken and target him. Opposing currents are so strong he hasnt been able to implement fully.
3: Call it Shaukat’s magic, the selected technorats doing ot US affection; it has worked. On the contrary even if US help is all it is, it could have all ended up in personal accounts rather than the treasury.
4: Justice too has been much better delivered. The real justice that matters is at lower dist courts. he could either set up a military court to punish the likes of Mkhtara Mai’s rapists or let the judges take care of it. Unfortunately, the mentality and treacherous functioning of lower courts, police etc is the way the judges are and he alone couldnt chnae it in 7 yrs. Heck look now, judiociary is ridding Pak of all miseries it seems, but how many of the millions of cases pending for years are solved that actually affetc the common Pakistani and his life in Pakistan? Dont blame musharraf but the immoral practices in the legalprofession prevailing for decades unchecked. Still, the courts remained better functioning since his arrival compared to the past.
5: Perhaps no real movement here, again, because you cant shift the gear alone if 10 ppl are holding it pushing in the other direction for various reasons.
6: Oh this has most surely been introduced by this govt. If you know what a blessing the local body govt the Nazim system has been for the ppl. Plus those elected in the PAs and NA right now in power and opposition alike were elected by the ppl as is prescribed by democracy which gives power to the ppl.
7: Seriously, this should have been handled with much more firmness and strictness. All wrongdoers of the past and present should have been held accountable rather than being sent out or brought in on deals etc.

All in all he gets ATLEAST 50% marks, and that’s passing criteria. Even more so when the adverse currents are blowing hard all the time.

I just wanted to know how much more eye openers we need from Army to finally admit that Military rulership even in its best form is worse than the worst form of Democracy..
