77th Oscar Awards nominations

Re: 77th Oscar Awards nominations

Talha, I cant believe it, my predictions are exactly the same as yours! Martin Scorsese and Hilary deserve it!

Re: 77th Oscar Awards nominations

my prediction for oscar's is this. Jamie foxx will win the award, get on stage and fire a story at us about how proud he is to be a proud black man and how despite the best effort of "THE MAN" to keep him down, he showed all those crackers about black power.

All right maybe I am exxagerating a weeeee bit, but you watch, I can bet anyone here 5 bucks that if he wins, he will bring out his race in the acceptance speech.

Re: 77th Oscar Awards nominations

Whether he brings out race or not, im not concerned. He deserves to win the best actor for Ray not because he is black. Have you actually seen that movie. Dont look at the plot of the movie or the music, watch his acting. I know most ppl here dont appreciate R&B/Jazz and never heard of Ray Charles until he died, but watch Jamie Foxx protray him in the movie.

if Scorsese doesn’t win this time around - i wonder when will he.

as for Hilary - look for upset tho.. Annette Bening and Hilary Swank were up against in 2000 awards where Hilary (Boys Don’t Cry) beat Annette (American Beauty) - i wouldn’t be surprise if Annette wins the Oscar - Hilary already has the Oscar plus Golden Globe for Million Dollar Baby..

however, both time around - Hilary has the role of most physically challenge..so i think she deserves it…i was never really a fan of Annette tho.

Re: 77th Oscar Awards nominations

oh no no, I am not saying that I have a problem with it. I’m just saying that he will bring it up. So anyone willing to bet me. I know we can’t exchange money or something, but maybe we can change our sig line to say that “such and such was right and I was wrong” or something like that.

Re: 77th Oscar Awards nominations

I will agree with 5abi that Fox deserves teh award for his portrayaol of Ray Charles. Hillary swank doesnt face a tough competition either, apart from Kate winslet maybe.

Re: 77th Oscar Awards nominations

lagta hai Saby nay bhi pirated version aakhir dekh hi liya, now stay tuned on Sunday night :D

Re: 77th Oscar Awards nominations

^ LoL. Much earlier than you think, 5abi :D. I saw a dvd version of Ray "-p

I have seen every movie in best movie category and some others apart from 'sideways'

Re: 77th Oscar Awards nominations

Thats not really a DVD version, its theatrical chappa/bootleg copied onto a DVD. No company has released that movie on a DVD yet, so it cant even be a pirated copy of a genuine DVD. DVD production involves alot of panning/scanning/sound mastering that takes place once the they announce a DVD release.

And yep, seems like hes gonna get that best actor oscar for sure, this was one movie literally made for the oscars, even though I initially went for Eastwood on best actor.

Re: 77th Oscar Awards nominations

guys aishwarya is being asked 2 present a award at the oscars dont know if she'll be able to make it though? she is on location shooting 4 a english film.

Re: 77th Oscar Awards nominations

Awards are in progress right now. Few of the awards are already given like Morgan Freeman for Best supporting actor and Kate Blanchett for Best supporting actress.

Re: 77th Oscar Awards nominations

As Expected Hillary swank and Jamie Fox won the awards for best actress and actor :k: No great surprises here. Deserving indeed.

One of my top favorite movies of the year ‘Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind’ got the award for best original screenplay :jhanda:

Re: 77th Oscar Awards nominations

Toughest competition of the night (Best director, Clint and Martin Scor) was clinched by Clint Eastwood and Scorsese is once again left wondering what if :-/ Loved the way Clint said ' I am still a kid'

Million Dollar Baby won the best movie award. Quality wise I think Aviator edged Million dollar baby but towering performances from the star castmade the difference in the end.

Re: 77th Oscar Awards nominations

man scorsese is really unlucky...i guess he'll never win an oscar

Re: 77th Oscar Awards nominations

Poor thing, I felt for him...

What a pathetic Oscars. Not only in choices for some winners but in the whole production -- from everything like their decision to fill half of the show with songs, because you can never get enough of Beyonce destroying artistic music with her popstar vocals, scary facial expressions, and lack of human emotions. To the pathetic way they treated award winners like trash by presenting awards in the middle of the aile to the "unimportant categories" or giving them mere seconds to race through their acceptance speeches so they could run to commercial break #5000 and "pay the bills". Just a real piece of **** ceremony; an overcommercialized insult to everyone in the movie business and everyone who is a fan of cinema -- If I were in the business I would decline the invitation to participate in that exploitative event.

Re: 77th Oscar Awards nominations

Talha stop whining and go watch Ray. I bet you will now ;p

Re: 77th Oscar Awards nominations

I would say one of the better parts of the Oscars was when Chris Rock went out and interviewed people on the street about the movies nominated for Oscars…

Chris Rock: Have you seen “Million Dollar Baby”?
Random Guy: No, I have not.
CR: Ok, have you seen the “Aviator”?
RG: Nah! Don’t know about that either.
CR: Alright… “Sideways”?
RG: Nope..
CR: You haven’t seen any of them?
RG: Nope
CR: Ok, have you seen “White Chicks”?
RG: Oh yeah!!! :dhimpak:

Re: 77th Oscar Awards nominations

More people have seen Passion of the Christ and Fahrenheit 9/11 and White Chicks and Soul Plane -none of which were even nominated - than Sideways. Thats just the way it is with the Oscars. Its a elitist group that does the voting and no regard to how much money the movie makes at the box office else people like Tom Cruise would have won a few Oscars already.

Chris Rock was brilliant and I liked his dig at Jude Law as well. "Why is Jude Law in every movie that ive seen in the past 4 years" LOL

Re: 77th Oscar Awards nominations

Yeah, the bit about “if you don’t get a star… wait!” was nice… also his dig at presenting awards in the middle of aisles and saying “whats next… giving awards at the parking lot… into the drive-thru, get your award and McFlurries and outta there!” was funny. Plus his last hurrah “Thank you Brooklyn!!!” :hehe:
