There is a huge chasm between India’s economy, and that of the gulf states. India has a booming high technology sector, very competitive manufacturing, and it lacks energy self-sufficiency.
The Gulf States together have a lower GDP than Florida, and if you take oil out of the calculation they have a combined GDP of Iowa. If they blow all of their oil money on Nukes, they will have no remaining economy. Unless they let Dubai run the whole region, they are spoiled babies who cannot compete in the world economy. The Gulf countries cannot even pump their own oil without the west. They can’t save enough money to build their own refineries and oil infrastructure. There are a million things they should invest in before they buy nuke plants.
But, they are thinking with their gonads, not their brains. Testosterone is overwhelming common sense. This is nothing new.

More reason to starting pouring resources into a solution that removes U.S. reliance on foreign energy sources. In can be done in 20 - 30 years time.

and you are only reading some articles, you should also pay attention to what the gulf states are doing besides drooling at WMDs. Now even conservative Saudi Arabia is looking at Dubai model to focus on economic improvements using other than oil money, things are changing, they may not happen overnight but India/China didn't become what they are now overnight either, so relax.

oil is running out and people need energy. why build it at last minute?????
building today and obtaining some amount of variance in energy source is the best way. if they build nukes, it may allow them to participate on political matters too. everything points to go for it
with regards to economies and gdp what you need to remember is that we or arabs didnt create consumerism. we dont particularly want a very competitively dog eat dog world, were not racist or of mentality of trying to 'out-do' other nations.

As I said, it is the future of mankind that will be in peril if/when Arabs have nukes. Not limiting it to perceptions of Europe or white people, but the literal future of civilization.

these are the exact thoughts Europe had... future of mankind (in Europe)/Europeans is in danger... anyway, of all the nuke holders only the first time holder has used it, lets see what future holds for us.

Egypt and SA quite stable??!! Outside of Pakistan, these 2 countries probably have the highest concentration of extremists on earth. Is it hateful for me to point that out? Save the accusations of racism for something real.
I am talking about the future of mankind - like radical elements starting a nuclear war that will destroy life on earth - not the European way of life. I'd rather not see that future, thank you very much.

Yes they are stable countries, I don't see you condemning Israel, they have Nuclear weapons, and God knows what they are doing to Palestinians, but It's alright because they are doing it to Arab Muslims, I'm sure you believe the world would be a much better place without Muslims, or Arabs around, that is the impression I get from you.

No, I think any country which is not involved in war, or does not have hostile intentions has the right to develop Nuclear facilities. And I don't blindly support Muslims or countries. And I don't blindly accuse Christians, Jews, and westerners either.
