Re: 5th ODI: Pakistan vs New Zealand at Hamilton - Feb 03, 2011
Akhtar should be given chance in last 2 games and should be kicked out he can not prove his fitness and form. I'd take even fit rana naveed over unfit akhrar.
yeah I agree...but I hope for the other, since we don't have AAMER, we really need the threat of Akhtar on the playing 11 for the opposition to think about...they are always in doubts when batting against him...
however 100% agree that he needs to prove his fitness and strength (pace + accuracy) in next 2 games ahead of the WC...
don't agree on Uncle Rana nai...I'd rather have Tanvir Ahmed or tall Irfan...
also what happened to the guy from AbuDhabi?

Rana Uncle is a wicket-taker but he can also go for plenty. Tanvir Ahmed is probably a better option

One player has a bad game and we start harking on calling all the geriatrics back, bring back Shoaib, bring back Inzi, bring back Akram. Shaoib is past, lets mvoe forward. Teams like Aus, England, SA India will eat him alive in the world cup. He is only good for T/20 where he can bowl 4 overs.
Re: 5th ODI: Pakistan vs New Zealand at Hamilton - Feb 03, 2011
^ Very true...SAk bowling is too flat, there is no variety...
He just rely on pace.....
which is not enough...
No swing...
No movement...
Zero perfect yorkers...
4 overs in good pace and then back to square one...
Just try to recall Wasim Akram....
Like...
When he started loosing his pace...
he concentrated on variety...
His every ball use to be different....
Very unpredictable...
where as...
SAk is very predictable......
He got pace but no brain...
& when you are playing against world class batsmen...
Its all BRAIN...
:)

its more about fitness to bowl 10 overs with the fast pace he has. So his and team strategy should be to have him bowl 2 and 2 sets - 2 max pace then 2 fast medium with intelligence as you said..
unfortunately the coach today used to have ONLY pace as well in his days, so he can't seem to be coaching Akhtar in the right way.

Yeah...
This is really frustrating...
to see...
such an experienced pacer...
with no movement...
and no reverse swing...
Kinda...
Sad !
:(

Rana nai belongs to the 1 off game hall of fame IHMO. He is the A Razzaq wanna be, that never really made it. So since Razzaq is in form these days, its better to just work with Razzaq to be able to bowl better in the opening overs rather than bringing in Rana Naveed.
Also Sohail Tanvir might just hit form, he needs to work on the bouncers that he used to have and away swinger to right handers that used to bounce awkwardly.

^ Thats exacly...
what happens, when you are away from first class cricket...
its totally a different league...
