Poor handling of bowlers by afridi. When sohail tanveer and umar gul were getting smacked all over the place, why didn't he let razzaq and hafeez finish their overs? Each of them had 3 overs remaining. Why don't the senior players like younis and misbah advice afridi on the field?

listening to geo super sallu is saying umar gul has pathetic fielding and really needs to improve it for the world cup...but instead of improving he just smirks and laughs about it when he misfields! and he does it way too many times

Pakistan would have been pleased with their initial bowling effort after losing the toss on a flat surface, but New Zealand have come back courtesy James Franklin and the McCullum brothers. They have given the bowlers a decent total to defend, after Pakistan leaked runs in the Batting Powerplay. Afridi persisted with the expensive and unidimensional Sohail Tanvir, and Diljeet has a fair point here: "Why Razzaq never appeared back in attack after bowling stifling opening spells???"

Afridi is excellent, he played politics … two main reasons:
1- He tried to save Razzaq’s best average …
Abdul Razzaq 7 3 16 1 2.28
He didn’t allow him to bowl in batting PP, which is good, he saved his confidence!!!
2- He allowed Tanvir Sohail to keep destroying his own future for goods… I dont think he will come again in this series at least…

I would say NZ are favourites at the half way mark. A lot depends on how Pakistan start their innings. There is always more pressure on the team chasing a total and 262 seems a good total even on this flat surface
This just shows that in ODIs you cannot afford to relax or mess things up even when you have the opposition 6 or 7 wickets down for not many. They can still fight back and make you pay in the end overs if you do not bowl with intelligence and commonsense
Australia did this regularly to all the teams during their peak years. Even in games in which they seemingly looked down and out, they staged remarkable come-backs thru the likes of Bevan, Symonds and Gilchrist

There was no politics untill Mr Butt shook the confidence of Afridi and forced him to play with a team not chosen by him…
A Captain must be allowed to pick his best players … if you see there are two different teams playing under two different Pak Captains… and the difference is very obvious depending on the geographic factor…
BTW, you cannot omit politics from a Paki blood wether he is a Sabziwala or the president or CJ or COAS…
