4th ODI: India vs Pakistan - Gwalior Nov 15th at -09:00

Re: 4th ODI: India vs Pakistan - Gwalior Nov 15th at -09:00

Yaar, you need to take a crash course in LBWs.

Most people think that if the ball hits the pads outside the line of off-stump even if the ball was going to hit the stumps - it is straight away not out.

That is not correct. There is no such rule. Same thing when the batsman is stretching forward when the ball hits the pad.

The only reason, people say that these should be given not out is that - for the Umpire without the aid of technology it is difficult to tell (in the above circumstances) if the ball would go on to hit the stumps and benefit of doubt should go to the batsman.

But that DOES NOT mean that these are right away NOT OUTs by LAW....

An Umpire - if he is pretty sure - that the ball was going to hit the stumps in the above situations - is free to give the batsman OUT. But like Rameez was saying it usually takes a brave Umpire to do so in the above circumstances....because the chances of being proven wrong is very high.

And today we have technology like Hawkeye that can validate if the ball would have hit the stumps. And in Afridi's case - the Hawkeye proved that the Umpire got it right.

Re: 4th ODI: India vs Pakistan - Gwalior Nov 15th at -09:00

Afridi decision was a horrible decision which is gonna cost Pakistan this game. Afridi was hit OUTSIDE the line of offstump while attempting a shot...therefore, the rules of the game state he is NOT OUT. It seemed umpire was waiting for a ball to strike Afridi's pad so he could give him out right away..without even hesitating a second.

Re: 4th ODI: India vs Pakistan - Gwalior Nov 15th at -09:00

Again, his instant reaction showed that he was confident that the ball would be hitting the stumps (proven right by Hawkeye).

If you did not notice, the same Umpire also made instant decisions against Butt and Tanvir (both Plumb).

So long folks.

Re: 4th ODI: India vs Pakistan - Gwalior Nov 15th at -09:00

there is no such rule? how long have u been watching cricket?

read this..especially the following part

The essence of the rule might be concisely stated as: If the ball hits the batsman (but not his bat or hand first) when it was otherwise going to hit the wicket, then it is judged out LBW, unless (1) it pitched (bounced) on the leg side or (2) it hit the batsman outside the off stump and he was adjudged to be genuinely attempting to play the ball.

Re: 4th ODI: India vs Pakistan - Gwalior Nov 15th at -09:00

geez…1 bad decision and every1 is crying :halo: bad decisions were given in 2nd ODI aswell but since pak won the game , it was all part of the package in the end. yeah rite…

Re: 4th ODI: India vs Pakistan - Gwalior Nov 15th at -09:00

those 2 were straightforward decisions...even with the naked eye u cud tell they were plumb..the only 'good' decision he made was giving Younis Khan not out. 2 straightforward decisions 1 good and 1 terrible decision doesnt make a good umpire.

You were talking about Gould's poor umpiring in the 2nd ODI, and this umpiring was of the same standard. You cannot justify a bad decision saying he made the other 2 decisions the same way.

Re: 4th ODI: India vs Pakistan - Gwalior Nov 15th at -09:00

if you read my post correctly, maybe u would understand im not crying. Im just stating the facts. Some1 was complaining about the umpiring standard in the 2nd game, and we’re complaining about the umpiring standard in the 4th game. He does it…nothing wrong with it…we do it…we’re crying…typical paindoo jaahil mentaility.

plus, ur other posts jusify this coming from you…cuz u dont make a whole lot of sense in any other posts either.
