Brother if the Shia mainstream, 12ers, weren't part within the fold of Islamic Ummah they would not have been allowed to visit the holy sites in the Hejaz to perform Hajj and Umrah.
As far I am aware Usuli Shias have disassociated themselves from Alhlul Ghulaat (those having extremist exaggerated beliefs)
That is what some of my Shia cousins tell me too. Personally, my understanding of Islam (in areas that interest me), is more influenced by the views of liberal Suinni thinkers like Shaltoot, Ibn Rushd, Imam Bukhari and Sir Syed Ahmed Khan than any of the Ayatullahs.
I am most interested in why one should believe in the existence of God and how Islam spead among Christians and Jews in the early centuries than whos should have made the first caliph etc.
