Wakey wakey girl, have a cup of coffee before posting like this.
Coalition forces dead (combined US and others): 1,792
Coalition forces wounded: 11,888
Iraqi dead (est. from news reports): Min21,523 Max24,415 (7,350 attributted to Coalition forces)
Now, I ask, Attia, how does insurgent forces killing (taking the low estimate) 14, 173 Iraqi people (men, women, and children) hurt America? Can we at least agree that the logic is a bit off, not to mention the cowardly acts are given a lot more merit when they say they are targeting sell-outs as opposed to, ohhhhhhhh let's say, a sect of Islam that co-incidendently has a differing view of Islam? Gives the rotten apple a shine doesn't it?
That way other misguided Muslims can say those Muslims trying to feed a famiily deserve to be killed rather than question why would killing your own people off in a daily manner hurt or impede an invading army?
Better to just push the blame off to another country and be done with it, easier that way.
What has happened in the past and what is happening, suffering of Iraqi ppl is the common factor. Doesnt matter whether we start counting from Saddam' days or the so-called UN embargo which contributed to 500,000 deaths.
I dont know, situation is really bad....those who argue in favor of the US are saying...well you are getting raped, why not enjoy it.....its pathetic....And now we have these waves and waves of bombings...who is dying? common Iraqi's and we have idiots gloating that they deserve to die....God, they make me sick...Life is a gift of God, to all humanity....what right does any individual or group have to destroy what has been given by God....
verizon bahi iam not sorry and i came to the right forum… well i shared wat i think.. now u guys totally have the right to prove me wrong.. which in a way is a good source of learning for me
Who here thinks that US attack on Iraq was due to the "threat to national secuirty of USA"? Go ahead raise your hands...
Who benefits from prolonged violence? Who benefits from US presence in the mid east?
“I don’t apologize for this column,” he said. “I want them to apologize to me for talking about anti-Semitism.” President Bush went to war in Iraq “to secure our friend, Israel” and “everybody knows it,” Hollings declared.
1) 9/11 proved that you no longer needed missles to deliver WMD. Terrorists are deniable, in ready supply, and newly successful. The nexus of those who can supply WMD and those who can deliver it had not yet happened with Iraq. But in 10 years? With Uday or Qusay incharge? The oldest saying in the Middle East is that the enemy of my enemy is my friend. (If you want to call that national security, so be it).
2) Saddam was the prototypical tyrrant. He should have been indicted for genocide, but the world has no balls, or too much self interest. Saddam had to go. He could have opted for the tyrrant-lite option like Qaddafi, in which we don't ignore his heinous nature, the calculus of lives tips against invasion however.
3) Saddam created a new rope-a-dope cookbook for tyrrants. He let his people take the abuse, and he survived. That sets a bad example for future tyrrants.
Kaleem most of us know that Iraq was a BS war that got out of the bully we elected hands.
As to the other questions about who benefits...
US is losing people and money daily. We hardly benefit from prolonged violence. However power-hungry minority groups with malleable followers willing to lay their lives on the line killing their own countrymen indiscriminately tend to win a lot more. By fostering civil unrest and fear, it is certain that that area will always have a majority of people rejecting (not trusting) chosen leaders and turning to alternatives for one reason or another. US became the ultimate bad guy by creating the war so every subsequent action after that is placed at US feet right down to the innocents being killed by their own people.
Fostering the hatred and suicide bombings can be placed directly at the feet of the people doing it - insurgent leaders twisting religion and people's grief to create an astomsphere of distrust and blindness to grab power in the name of Allah.
As far as the mid-east, the mid-east does. Who is their number one consumer (the moneyman in other words)?
Why attack a country which had nuthin to do with 9/11? Cause it was doable-D Chenney
Reasons why Bush/Republican/Neocon axis decided to invade Iraq:
1. Oil
2. Oil
3. Oil
4. Ensure Security of Israel i.e. that of the US
5. Establish US presence in the region which produced most of the 9/11 hijackers
6. Prove to its people, the world that US meant business and can kick ass
WMD, democracy, freedom, tyrant.....all BS, propaganda to achieve their main objectives....Nobody Fks around with the US....
Answer this. If we needed and wanted to "conrtol the oil", why did we give Kuwait back? coulda just kept Kuwait with a lot less difficulty.
Could have siezed the southern Iraqi oil supply on behalf of Kuwaiti war reaparations, and assisted with Kurdish independence. All kinds of scenarios that would have yielded plenty of oil, and a lot less trouble.
The security of Israel? Israel is plenty secure, every decade or so they beat the snot out of the arabs. Not much Saddam could have done to hurt Israel. We held Israel back in 1991 from striking Iraq. Iraq has much more to fear from Israel than vice versa.
Establish a presence in the region? Does the no-fly zone mean anything to you? We had military bases, ports, lots of air bases, pretty much anything we wanted.
Simplistic drivel? An opinion jaded with neocon propaganda
Why give back Kuwait? Typical cowboy cowdung mentality. How can u give something back which aint your’s padner? Where were u born? Its Miss World Only America?? 1991, it was the coalition forces who liberated Kuwait, not just uncle Bush…And, the world then had respect for international law and treaties.
Siezed Southern Iraq for its oil resources and used Kurds? I C…and that stupid jackass of a tyrant, trained and groomed by Rummy and his comrades was going to let u nice americans just sit there, like now??? What r u smokin dude?? Care to share…And by the way, major oil fields are not in the South but up North in Sunni triangle…ring a bell…
Israel secured? Thats why they keep building Nuclear Bombs, get American aid and live in a state of fear, cause they have done what? Beat the **** out of the arab neighbours? Well, 1973 was a good wakeup call, intifada was another reminder and then the fact that they are an illegal occupier makes great security…
Yaa Awl from the Land of Opportunities…when u drop 4000lb bombs on a city, whatdya expect will happen? kill terrorist and soldiers only? Being patriotic doesnt mean u support the wrong policies of your leaders, america had some great peace movements back in the sixeties and seventies, no reason why it cannot happen again…
Assumption based judgements. Discredit, demonize the enemy. Total and utter crap which has been proven with NO WMD…
Saddam was made the tyrant by US and its allies in their vendetta against Iran. By the way, shaking hands with terrorist like Mechim Begin, Ariel Sharon is never a problem, but when its a Moslem, hey they aught to b put in place…List of dictators and tyrants created and supported by the US in endless, so spare us this BS pls
Bush screwed up with his invasion of Iraq, his ppl have suffered, does that give good reason for the civilized world to bomb and invade the US? There is a thing called International Law, I guess u awl aint herd of such a thing…
