first of all i aint comparing india with any of the teams... i m just saying if we are to look at the first ODI. who do u think was better team.. pakistan went close to 340 runs or somethin liek that.. in the second game.. we played extremely good... and now look at the team.. its pathetic to see their performance.... dont call england or SA loser.. england beat us in worldcup when we had players like waseem waqar saeed anwar... so they arent loser...and south africa beat us in ODI in pakistan, dont forget that.. NZ beat us too in recent times.... so who do u think is better..... i aint saying pakistan is worst but we just dont have ability to perform in every game.. and if we dont perform then we can lose from any team in the world with the excpetions of sirilanka and bangladesh :S

Well, SA and England had beaten Pakistan... but not India! I am talking about the Indian team. You say that if you cannot beat India, you cannot beat SA and England. Wrong. Absolutely wrong. Are you nuts? Do you want to say that England and SA are better then India? Are you kidding me? No way man. You cannot compare any team in the world with India with the exception of Australia. Only Australia is better then us (India). Don't forget to watch the Natwest series.. you will forget Pakistan's defeat. England is going to cry!

Congratulations to the Indian cricket squad. They were the better team
through out the season and have found their magic wand.

I'm glade its over because sooner the Pakistan team goes on the operating table the batter. We the Pakistan fans get carried away with pocket of performances and fistful of laurels and then the whole things goes in a deep coma.

I for one know's exactley what's wrong with this picture from pakistan's perspective. The question is for the the selector's.
With changing times and the pace/style of the game, have they changed their own approache to the selection criteria beside changing their name brand dressage.

It happens yaar. Remember last years NZ tour by India? You have to start beating your opponents regularly overseas to qualify as the second best team. You couldnt even do it against Zimbabwe. So chill.

After the shameful defeat of Pakistani cricket team to India in Pindi, the team members were not able to show their faces to people and they chose not to go in public and rather just pack up in hotel rooms. Inzamam could not resist for too long to be in hometown and still not be able to go out shopping and have fun. So he disguises himself as a Sardar and goes out. he meets a woman at the exit of the hotel who greets him "Hi Inzamam !" Surprised for having been caught he comes back and makes himself up as a molvi, with a large beard and goes out. Yet same again - the same woman greets him "Hi Inzamam!". Inzmam comes back determined to give it yet another try with the make up of a Hippie wig and shorts etc. All in vain - the same lady catches him again and greets him "Hi Inzamam!". Bewildered by now, he could not help asking, "How did you recongise >>me?" The lady replied - "I'm Shoaib Akhtar!"

^^ LOL

Major changes should b made @ Managment level along with players

there was no fight what so ever by Pakistani batsmen. in 2 defeats they were playing test match as ODIs.

TIME TO HOLD ACCOUTABLE THE PLAYERS AND PCB, I M ALL FOR MAJOR CHANGES !

I am sure I speak for all the Guppies that I am a bit saddened that this historic series is over. I had a great time following this thread, I got to know some of you, I enjoyed good-natured ribbing from both Pakistanis and Indians. Darasal I don't know what topic is going to interest us all as much as Cricketnama did.

To all my Pakistani friends, India beat you in cricket and in Kabbadi, but don't forget you guys beat the crap out of us in wrestling. So I am not picking any fights with any of you, muzhe mere dant durust rakhne hain!

Khuda hafiz!

All I can possibly write right now is "Fittay Moh,wadey ayee " :snooty:

Congratulations, champagne, cash flow after India’s historic win](Yahoo is part of the Yahoo family of brands.)

NEW DELHI (AFP) - Congratulations, champagne and cash flowed in India after Saurav Ganguly and his boys in blue snatched a maiden cricket Test series victory on Pakistani soil.

A delighted cricket chief Jagmohan Dalmiya immediately announced a five million rupee (1.2 million dollar) reward for the players, while national leaders clogged with phone lines with good wishes and fans uncorked champagne at home.

Indian President Abdul Kalam led the nation in hailing skipper Ganguly and his team, minutes after they beat Pakistan by an innings and 131 runs in the third and final Test to clinch the series 2-1 in the city of Rawalpindi.

“My hearty congratulations to all of you on this historic and fantastic win that you have registered…,” Kalam, the architect of India’s nuclear missiles, said in a message relayed to Ganguly.

“The whole nation is proud of you … this has been made possible by admirable team effort,” Kalam said.

Ganguly’s squad also won the one-day series, making a clean sweep in India’s first full tour of Pakistan in almost 15 years, which came amid warming ties between the two South Asian nations who have fought two of their three wars over Kashmir since 1947.

India’s Deputy Prime Minister Lal Krishna Advani appeared happy beyond words.

“This is a dream come true for the Indian players and the people of the country,” Advani said, adding that he was euphoric that the 40-day tour had “ended on a happy note.”

Political pundits say Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee’s Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) party had gambled on a win in Pakistan to gain mileage in upcoming parliamentary polls which are being fought on the planks of robust economy, good ties with Pakistan and the cricket.

“The one-day and the Test series has generated a lot of expectations and goodwill,” Advani said as motorists tapped their horns and fans burst firecrackers across the country.

The BJP has credited the premier for paving the way for the tour of Pakistan but Vajpayee in an overnight television chat show said the idea for the clash of willows had first come from Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf.

Parliament Speaker Murli Manohar Joshi counted the benefits of the historic tour, which has also generated more than 20 million dollars in advertisements and TV endorsements.

“The Indian team has not only won the Test series, but also the hearts of people of Pakistan… The series will definitely help in building in people-to-people contacts,” Joshi said.

India’s first overseas series victory since Sri Lanka in 1993 also made Ganguly his country’s most successful Test captain, surpassing the previous record of 14 wins by Mohammad Azharuddin.

And Ganguly’s cricket-mad home city of Calcutta exploded with celebratory firecrackers, witnesses said.

Man of the series Virender Sehwag’s home in the Najafgarh suburbs of New Delhi was bursting at the seams with fans and neighbours who wanted to shake hands with his father and relatives as the national capital prepared to party well through the night.

“The moment the last wicket fell in Rawalpindi we ordered extra stocks of whisky and champagne for tonight because the sales will boom after what has happened,” said Sunil Rehani of a state-run liquor store in the eastern sections of New Delhi.

Former Test cricketers such as Sandip Patil, Polly Umrigar and Chandu Borde sounded euphoric.

“For India to win a Test series in Pakistan is itself a fantastic performance. But to win the one-day series and then the Test series is simply breathtaking,” said former skipper Umrigar in Bombay.

classic!

And that is the end of Pakistan's misery.

PS: Pakistan should stop playing on gambling instincts and try to build a solid foundation...that means all the way back to the basics... :)

How often can you have 'MAJOR' changes in a team that is so young. Just after world cup failure we had so called 'MAJOR' changes in the team. I would say stick with these 20 players that we've seen since last year until next world cup and groom them. I am pretty sure that they are gonna learn from there mistakes. I am totally against any 'MAJOR' changes in the team. Winning/loosing is part of the game. You can't expect to win every game. Give these players a break! They've been playing continuously since the last year. If there has to be some change, I suggest it should be in the coaching dept. We need to have specialist coaches in fielding/batting/bowling and 'captaincy' dept. Inzamam or whoever needs to be a captainn needs to be given special training course on how to be a captain and how to handle team under pressure.

Otherwise, for me team performance is fine keeping in mind that the team is so young....

^ I agree :k:

:nuch: :bhangra: The better team won..chalo until next time. Now I can concentrate on better sports like Basketball and Baseball. :k:

is sacking of coach and captain PCB's next agenda?

anyhow - well done India on their historic win both in test and ODI - they were the better side - Pakistan played well but in the end - it's win that matters.

i, like many cricket fans, look forward for more cricket between two nations.

ehsan yaar..I am kidding. I love you cricketnama freaks.. you did a fabulous job during the series… Deserve a lot of credit. :k:

can we please change the #@$@@ banner now, it's a tad too much.

Euphoric Indian press lauds cricketers for win over Pakistan](Yahoo is part of the Yahoo family of brands.)

NEW DELHI (AFP) - The Indian press was euphoric, heaping praise on the cricket team which clocked a maiden Test series win against Pakistan on their rivals’ soil and their first overseas victory in a decade.

National dailies splashed front-page pictures of a jubilant Indian team celebrating their 2-1 test victory over their arch-rivals under headlines such as “Spirited win, India high” and the “Cup of joy runs over.”

“How sweet it is!” exclaimed the Hindustan Times. The Tribune newspaper headlined its piece “We have done it,” adding “Indians create Test history on Pakistani soil.”

The photographs of an ecstatic Indian team were juxtaposed with those of the visibly distraught Pakistani skipper Inzamam-ul Haq.

As Indians blearily woke up from a night of firecrackers and partying, they opened newspapers to glowing sports reports which pushed aside news of national elections starting Tuesday.

The Indian team’s visit – the first full tour of Pakistan in 15 years – came as part of confidence-building measures to normalise ties upset by a bitter conflict in Kashmir in 1999 and another near-war in 2002.

Pakistan issued visas to more than 8,000 Indian fans to watch the series of five one-day matches between the two sides, which India won 3-2.

The Hindu newspaper said India’s double win made it one of the “two strongest powers in international cricket,” the first being Australia.

But at the same time, it lauded the Pakistanis’ hospitality and “the absence of anything resembling national chauvinism on either side.”

“High-level sporting contests, which hold millions in thrall, can help the political process of normalising and improving relations between the peoples of India and Pakistan,” The Hindu said.
