Was it lbw appeal?

Re: 3rd Test: England v Pakistan at Sharjah Nov 01

I liked Botham's suggestion that a team should not lose a review even if the ball is only just hitting the stumps

OK it cannot be given out under the present rules (< 50% contact) but it should also not result in a team losing the review.

Re: 3rd Test: England v Pakistan at Sharjah Nov 01

So what is your gut feeling?

Day 4 belonged to Pakistan but can England still pull it off? Cook and Root are known for their stickability

wickets are the key but 79 runs per session does not seem so daunting. Will day 5 pitch play it's part?

Re: 3rd Test: England v Pakistan at Sharjah Nov 01

And why is Abdur Rehman being ignored by the selectors? Is he not a better left-arm orthodox spinner than Zulfiqar Babar?

99 wickets in 22 tests at 29.39 is an excellent record

Re: 3rd Test: England v Pakistan at Sharjah Nov 01

Exactly what I stated earlier. If close calls go umpire way even though ump decision was closely wrong then close calls shoukd not result in challenge being deducted!

Furthermore, if DR'S has the technology to get it right, I see no reason to not overrule umpire call and get it right.

Umps are humans. They can give in to subconscious bias and rule in favor of those they identify with. So these close calls going one way can add up. Not saying it happened here. Onky way to avoid is - technology has final say.

Either have technology as final arbiter. Or no drs.

Re: 3rd Test: England v Pakistan at Sharjah Nov 01

i like!

Pakistan almost have one hand on steering but they need to get Cook and Root EARLY (in first session) to get into driving seat fully. Target is not that high …10-15 good scoring overs by these 2, and equation will go in Eng’s favor.

Whatever the result will be, it was a good series to watch. :k:

Re: 3rd Test: England v Pakistan at Sharjah Nov 01

The match is delicately balanced after D4, I would even give England a slight edge at this stage. First session crucial, as always, for both sides
If Cook and Root survive the morning session then Pakistan will be on the back foot.
Need to attack from the word go and take half chances as well. Open with Malik and Babar and then partner Yasir with Wahab (for reverse swing) once the ball is 40 odd overs old

Re: 3rd Test: England v Pakistan at Sharjah Nov 01

The main problem Pak has is that they have no reviews left for another 58 overs (reviews will be reset after 80 overs), so they won't be able to challenge any close decisions that are not given by the umpires!

Re: 3rd Test: England v Pakistan at Sharjah Nov 01

DRS still sucks :naraz:

Re: 3rd Test: England v Pakistan at Sharjah Nov 01

This is the problem when all.close decisions go one way and each challenge costs a chall3nge. Exactly what he poked when india visited austtalia. But i digress.
