Good to see Pollock back to his old form.

South Africa's current form with both bat and ball does not augur well for Pakistan. If SA can amass 274 from a precarious position of 76-6 they are more than capable of meting out the same treatment to us. It's highly unlikely that the bans on both Asif and Akhtar will be lifted in time for the SA series and World Cup. Hence the sooner the ban on Shabbir is lifted the better. It's not just our top order that's a worry. The two Y's and Inzi (has struggled lately) cannot be expected to churn out runs all the time. I am not sure if our bowling attack (Umar Gul, Shahid Nazir/Samiullah Niazi, Shabbir and Kaneria) is good enough to bowl SA out twice in a test match. I believe the SA series will be an even bigger test of our mental strength and character than the Eng series.

Yeah, if Akhtar and Asif are absent, beating South Africa can be a trouble task for us.

Re: 3rd ODI: South Africa v India at Cape Town, Nov 26, 2006

Akram during the weekend stated that he predict big problems for Pakistan and their depleted bowling attack.

Will have to wait and see.

Re: 3rd ODI: South Africa v India at Cape Town, Nov 26, 2006

During Champions Trophy, our second string bowlers reduced South Africa to 45 for 5 and after that they just did not have the juice to carry on. SA has a great batting line up and you can not win matches with second string bowlers. It is same with Pakistan, if you take out Nitni and Pollack, SA bowlers will be having same troubles with Pakistan. We also have good allrounders, namely Razzaq, Malik and Kamran is not that bad either.

Re: 3rd ODI: South Africa v India at Cape Town, Nov 26, 2006

pathetic.

the only thing good about this is that such a crash has come with great timing with respect to the world cup. wake-up calls can do wonders.

they would be right on track for a rebound just in time for the WC.

however, this only matters if there is indeed a rebound.
