36 hour snow storm

Re: 36 hour snow storm

yup! i think someone in my neighbourhood has that thing installed. not a single speck of snow or ice there.

Re: 36 hour snow storm

the probably had a plow truck clear the driveay or have a strong snowblower and then spread ice melter on the driveway

Re: 36 hour snow storm

i dunno...none of the other driveways look like that, with a hand shovel, a snow blower or a snow plow. there's that tiny layer of snow still left. except for that driveway.

Re: 36 hour snow storm

^^ yyup, thats the heating driveway .. when i was buying the first house, they showed me the brochure of all options, heated driveway was the most expensive option ..

here in the condo, they have it for the ramp that goes in underground parking, its a blessing..

keep in mind, it has its own COMPLICATED set of complications when it comes to troubles.. i will rather invest in a gas/diesel 2 or 3 stage snow thrower..

Re: 36 hour snow storm

im here eating an apple on my shovelin break

o after this im going paintballin ..my right arm is given up

Re: 36 hour snow storm

yep... sure is... normally the cost is somewhere between $18 to $25 per sq. ft. - there may be additional cost is your snow melt system needs to stand on its own and can't be tied into your home's heating system.

Re: 36 hour snow storm

The electricity bill takes a bit of a hit but it's well worth not having to shovel first thing in the morning.

Re: 36 hour snow storm

This heated driveway must be a joke. In Ottawa or Montreal do you know how much it will cost to heat a double car driveway when the temp is hovering around -15 degrees? Cheaper to get a tracked 10 HP snowblower and pay a kid $10/hr to freeze his butt to clear my driveway.

Re: 36 hour snow storm

its not heated to be like +40 .. its more like +2, +4 kinda temperature.. it can be dynamic with weather control/semi manual (so u only turn it on when needed) ..

all its simply doing is toaster-style metal mesh within the driveway to be warmed up .. in -15, the +4 temp requirement isnt a big deal, home heating systems during winter are probably spending 5times more than that ..

the way i see it, u turn it on in right after the storms, or during night time..

for busy life, its a blessing.. yeah i agree towards the laziness..
