Re: 30 minute meals that actually take 30 minutes?

wow! i’ll tell my Bhabhi about this magical find! she belongs to old school of cooking so i’m sure she will reject it outright…she will say…“beTaa, jab tak gosht aur haDDiyaaN raat bhar na galaayii jaayeN unkaa mazaa kahaN?”…i think Bhabhi has to listen to me this time! :cb:

Re: 30 minute meals that actually take 30 minutes?

or just do it is yourself to prove your point. I cook all my beans, lentils for haleem, and red meat dishes (except for keema ofcourse) in a pressure cooker. Just make sure you have a reasonable meat water ratio.

Re: 30 minute meals that actually take 30 minutes?

There are lots of meal that takes 30 mins, but that does not include the prep time. Even in case of Rachel Ray's 30 mins meals, I doubt that it would take you just 30 mins. First of all, you would not have all the relevant ingredients sitting conveniently in your pantry and refrigerator, when you are going for, let' say garlic roast chicken with rosemary and lemon - so to make a 30 min meal, you may have to make a trip to you local grocery store, and they you would say - 'oh dang, I will just stay home and make a 1 hour meal from what I have than to go to market and waste 2 hours to cook a 30 minute meal'.

Re: 30 minute meals that actually take 30 minutes?

^^ or just plan ahead and get the stuff ahead of time. I do agree if you are first going for grocery shopping, it will be longer before you can have a meal on the table. When we have to cook meat stuff, we soak the meat in water to thaw and during that time, take care of other chores. by the time we are done with other stuff, the meat is thawed and cooking is faster. I also try chopping veggies and other stuff for curries after putting the onions on heat, it is a big time saver.

Re: 30 minute meals that actually take 30 minutes?

^^ my in laws are a bit weird in the sense they like buying meat fresh on the day it's to be cooked. So whenever I cook I do have to factor in time to go to the butchers (although luckily this is only 10 minutes away) for other things though I usually make a list and make sure I have all the groceries in.

It is the clean up that takes up most of the time.I would have loved cooking if I did not have to do dishes after that..!!

Re: 30 minute meals that actually take 30 minutes?

Soak 2 cup rice and once cup daal masoor for half hour
Take oil in hot pot and add some zeera, 3 4 small cinnamon sticks, 3-4 baree ilaaichi and half sliced onion and bhoono for few mins.
then add rice, daal, water (3 cups or more to rise 1 inch above rice level) and salt - and let it boil and then bring to simmer and then dam karo at the end.

That should do it

Re: 30 minute meals that actually take 30 minutes?

Yes you can do chicken in pressure cooker but if it is done for long chicken pieces may broke into small one so only 3 to 4 mins will be enough.
Regarding quick dishes, you can make chickpeas Salan by getting canned chickpeas. Daal is also a quick recipe
