This is what I predict;
End of Day 3 - Pakistan all out 475, India 80 for 2 (deficit erased)
End of Day 4 - India all out 320, Pakistan 35 for 1 (Target: approx. 240)
Day 5: Pakistan all out 220 thereby losing by 20 odd runs.

Hahahaha… Gosh… aray you think Pakistan will make 700 runs? Come on.. give me a break. This match is heading for a draw. Even if we get a lead, there is no way our frugal bowling resources will force a decision in our favor. I have said it before and I will say it again, its our batting which can make the difference between draw and loss. They can not make us win. Its our bowling that has to take 20 wickets. Unless the pitch cracks up really badly on the fourth day, forget any kind of result.

I quite agree that Funguy's predictions are very much possible and given the strong indian batting line up and our history of collapses, it cannot be discarded straight away. We can say 'duur fittay munh' to him but in our hearts, probably we all know that it is quite possible and we are not in a commanding position as yet.

After staging a remarkable come back in the field yesterday. Pakistanis were quite hopeful of mopping up the tail rather quickly to restrict India to a reasonable total on a placid track. Pakistan started really well, with Muhammad khalil affecting a run out from a direct hit, to dismiss karthik, the over night batsman, this unexpected show of brilliant fielding not only stunned poor karthik but also surprised everyone in the dressing room as well…as khalil is not the best of fielders otherwise..his direct hit prompted a loud “hurrah” from BOB followed by exclamation of “BULL’s eye”…when the ball hit the stumps the bail flew off straight in to the eye of Kaneria,who went flat to the ground in agony..seeing this someone sitting close to bob replied”its not bull’s eye, its kaneria’s eye..”this prompted a huge laughter from everyone….

Balaji strode to the crease…shahid had lined him up, as his potential victim, as planned he slipped in a faster one..which crashed in to the stumps of a hapless balaji…INDIA were 8 down..after some resistance pathan also fell to the guile of Kaneria…pakistanis though the game is over..but then harbhajan singh and kumble put up a decent last wicket partnership to take India to a respectable total of 407…

Indians had planned to get one or two wickets earlier on before lunch…but shahid afridi,the new opener, started the innings in his usual slam bang style. He smacked balaji for two fours in his first over…at lunch pakistan were 17-0…

The menu for lunch included bengali specialities as Sarshe Ilish, **Chingri Macher Malai **Curry , Paturi, and **Mangshor jhol **…. Both the bastmen ate very little…just took in a lot of liquid to cope with the humidity of kolkata…during the whole break BOB explained to afridi that he had got a start…he should capitalize on it…and should make a big one…it would help Pakistan get close to the target…BUT sadly as play resumed, he went about his usual ways…and after hitting pathan for three boundaries….he went for one shot too many, and holed to at mid on to sachin tendulkar…despite of all the fireworks, pakistan were still 35-1..not the best of starts…had Indian fielders held on tot heir catches pakistan could easily have been reduced to 35-2..which could have been disastrous…BOB was not pleased at all with afridi’s shot selection, and he ignored him for the rest of the afternoon so did the rest of the squad…BUT mr afridi was convinced that the shot was on. He is an interesting character, never short of coming up with philosophies of his own, however ridiculous they might be…he sat away the whole afternoon non chalantly listening to music on his walkman…

Younis khan, who came under fire from both the press and the team management..for his dismal all round performance at mohali…looked composed and in control from the very start…BOB had advised him to just keep in mind where his off stump was…and try to play as staright as possible early on…and unlike afridi, Younis khan followed his coach’s advice and the result was very rewarding for him…yoyo also was in total command from the begining..both rotated the strike very intelligently, to keep the score board ticking over, while at the same time punished the bowlers if they delivered anything loose…they negotiated the rest of the session safely…maintaining a very healthy rate of 4 runs per over…they helped Pakistan amass 130 runs in the session for the loss of two wickets…Pakistan were 147-2 at tea…during tea interval BOB was joined by the famous Indian cricketer BISHEN SINGH BEDI…bishen admonished BOB for dropping salman butt for this match..he was adamant that salman was a very good prospect and he should be retained as an opener as soon as possible…naturally salman was overjoyed at this appreciation from a legend…rest of the afternoon he kept grinning from ear to ear..his point had been made…

Pakistanis were aware that the last session is usually the most profitablefor the bowlers…both batsmen were determined to return not out at the end of the day…and both started very well…runs flew in the form of single, doubles and an odd boundary… and pakistan reached 200 for the loss of two wickets…

Younis khan, quite contrary to his image is a very jolly and witty character..he ahs got the strongest handshake in the team maybe after afridi…and today he put his wit to good use…as he teased and tormented the Indian fieldsmen and bowlers both by his bat and tongue..

During one over, he smashed harbhajan first ball to the boundary for four runs..next ball held its line and Younis got an outside egde…but luckily the ball didn’t travel all the way to Dravid in the slip…Younis was saved..harbhajan deliberately walked up to khan, and said in Punjabi”**PAAJI..AY MERA **DOOSRA AY”(brother:its my doosra)..younis kept quite and took his stance…next ball another doosra and Younis went back to make room..and smashed it past point for another four…younis,with a smile on his face goes upto harbhajan and says”**AUR YEH MERA TEESRA **HAI”(and this is my third)..referring to his third boundary off his bowling…harbhajan was left stone faced..

Younis told about this episode to rana naved during a brief drinks break…and rana told everyone in the dressing room..which provoked a big laughter from everyone around…the runs were flowing, Kumble was clueless…Pakistanis were taking a single at every ball…and smashing an odd boundary as well…and pakistan were really coasting along..kumble tried another variation…he started bowling from round the wicket and started pitching outside the leg stump…few were left alone for the keeper rest were all padded away by youhana…at one delivery kumble remarked”**KOI TU BAT SAY BHI KHELO..SHARAM **KARO..”(shame on you,play wth ur bat) Younis from the other end promptly replied “**KOI TU ANDAR BHI **KARAO..PEHLAY TUM SHARAM KARO”(shame on u first, bowl in the line of stumps).…yoyo was all smiles when he shared with me this episode after the end of day’s play…

Younis kha brought his workman like,but still a well paced hundred with a boundary..his effort was acknowledged by all and sundry at the eden gardens…finally inzi was seen appreciaiting poor Younis khan for something…now it was yoy’s turn to reach his landmark…he probed away calmly…and in the last over he was 90*…BOB signaled from the dessing room to yoyo to staycalm…he can complete his hundred tomorrow…but unruffled by any advice…yoyo took two runs of the first ball by harbhajan…he was 92…next one a doosra was blocked safely…next one an off spinner was dispatched to cover fence for another boundary..he was 96…next two balls yoyo was forced to block..before the last ball,yoyo conversed with Younis,harbhajan gave the ball good flight…and yoyo stepped up and disdainly dispatched it towards the midwicket boundary to complete his hundred…on the last ball of the innings…and walked off to a standing ovation from the crowd and Pakistani dressing room…

After entering the dressing room yoyo exclaimed to inzi”**AAKHRI SHOT TAY SAB TOUN **ZIADA MAZA AYA”..(last shot I enjoyed the most)..…pakistan had survived the last session without losing any wicket…nd Pakistanis were relieved of their worst fears…pakistanis were really happy that kumble had been kept at bay for the first time..saleem altaf summed up the sentiment by saying”**KUFFAR TOOTA **KHUDA KHUDA KAR KAY”…someone had to explain it to BOB what it meant in English..(finally the jinx has been broken)…and there was a big smile on bob’s face after the explanation..

Now the plan is to bat out the whole day tomorrow and try to score as many runs as possible…bob wants to take a lead of 175+ runs to put India under a lot of pressure…because bob does not want to chase a target 0f 150+ IN THE LAST INNINGS ON THE LAST DAY…

All the players are in good spirits…the good atmosphere in the team was visible with their body language on and off the field…at night players roamed around the hotel lobby some watching a movie..while some having coffee with fans…salman,rana naved and khalil were seen playing cards…while inzi,yoyo,and saleem altaf enjoyedthemselves with a movie…with BOB retiring to his room…this caps a faboulous day in the field for Pakistanis…and I hope it was not the last…

younis is still known as "yoosless" khan if you ask me. Let's not jump up and down like monkeys just because of what he did this inning. We should remember his batting before yesterday.

what I am about to say will probably be deleted. I urge everyone to please use restraint after reading my post. Here we go. Before you judge me, please let it be known that my mother's family is pathan so I am not being racist.

I seriously think that afridi's inability to use restraint when he bats comes directly from the fact that he is pathan. Our pathan bretherens are known for a lot of things, but brain isn't one of them. Therefore you see the continuous brain farts that ails him.
