Re: 2nd Test: Pakistan v South Africa at Abu Dhabi - Nov 20-24, 2010

It didn’t seem like Pakistan would save the follow-on after losing Misbah so early but Rehman has batted determinedly, helped by the debutant Tanvir, to ensure South Africa bat again. Perhaps South Africa could have brought on Botha a little earlier, but, nevertheless, Pakistan have done well. Corrie van Zyl, the coach, had said yesterday he hoped the pitch would deteriorate but that certainly hasn’t happened.

SA :mocking:

Bhai Abdu ittna ghussa :omg: 3 fours in a row

140.6
Morkel to Abdur Rehman, FOUR, no luck for South Africa, good length and he just tries to push at it, gets an inside edge to the fine-leg boundary
140.5
Morkel to Abdur Rehman, FOUR, four more and that’s his half-century, excellent innings, short outside off and he just upper cut it over the slips to bring up the landmark, a potentially match-saving innings by Rehman, well done, a maiden fifty
140.4
Morkel to Abdur Rehman, FOUR, found the gap, full outside off, he opened the face to steer it past point for a boundary, there is a third man in place but he had no chance

Re: 2nd Test: Pakistan v South Africa at Abu Dhabi - Nov 20-24, 2010

Well don't forget the Placid nature of the Track .... on the otherside of the coin SA batted on this very Track too and had de Villiers being given out LBW as he was Plumb (no there to c for Harper) things could've been different but oh well :D

Re: 2nd Test: Pakistan v South Africa at Abu Dhabi - Nov 20-24, 2010

When should SA declare? or how much lead would be sufficient for SA... they already are 180+ with 10 wickets in hand, can they make this T20 and score another 170 bringing overall lead to 350 and take a chance with Pakistan to have them bat today and tomorrow to chase 350+???

Re: 2nd Test: Pakistan v South Africa at Abu Dhabi - Nov 20-24, 2010

^ I think SA will aim to pile up as many runs as possible by the close today giving Pakistan a full day tomorrow to bat and save the game

Nevertheless a very good fight-back by the tail in particular Rehman

Maybe the pitches have something to do with it (but then it's the same for both teams) but atleast Pakistan are now making 300-400 runs per test innings something which not so long ago seemed beyond them

As for Pakistan plenty of work still needed to save this game. Funny things are known to happen on the last day of a test. The best way to check SA's scoring rate today is to take some early wickets

Re: 2nd Test: Pakistan v South Africa at Abu Dhabi - Nov 20-24, 2010

I think it has more to do with the pitch than the bowling. Look at what happened to SA bowlers.

On another point SA are chokers and will not declare till they think it is absolutely safe and keeping in mind what happened in the last test when Pakistan came close enough, the declaration is not going to be anytime soon or challenging. This match will end as a boring draw but plenty of positives for Pakistan.
