Kaneria happy to shoulder burden
Danish Kaneria said he was pleased to have delivered the goods after taking six wickets to give Pakistan a strong chance of winning the second Test.
The spinner bowled all day for his 6-102 as Sri Lanka ended day four 361-7, just 91 runs ahead.
It left Pakistan on course to square the Test series.
"In the absence of Shoaib and Sami the onus was on me to perform and I am happy that I have put the team on the road to victory," Kaneria said.
Sri Lanka had battled bravely throughout the day with both Sanath Jayasuriya and Kumar Sangakkara notching up Test centuries.
But a late collapse - when four wickets fell for 27 runs - handed the initiative back to Pakistan.
Sangakkara, who recorded his seventh Test ton, said: " A century is a century but I would have been happier had I scored three runs and saved the team."
Pakistan were without the services of captain Inzamam-ul-Haq, who did not field on Sunday because of a back injury.
He has been advised to rest for up to a week but said he would play if he was needed.
Inzamam said: " I didn't take to the field because my back has been hurting since last evening.
"It is a back strain and doctors have advised me to rest for four to six days.
"If required, I will have to come out to bat on the final day. But I hope I am not needed."
