Well played Pakistan… The largest target in T20 history and they made a game out of it. I feel the turning point for Pakistan was when Sharjeel Khan was bowled at 50. Pakistan lost the advantage there. Plus losing three main batsmen on zero did not help either! Well the bright side is that this is the highest runs total for Pakistan. Congratulations Sri Lanka! Better luck next time Pakistan!
I still believe in Sohaib Maqsood and Bilawal Bhatti, not so sure about Umar Amin (may be needs more outings), Sharjeel is establishing himself already. Bilawal Bhatti needs a good experienced pace bowler to guide him during the match (may be Junaid Khan) or some coaching from Wasim/Waqar and he will shine. They need to rotate Umar Amin and Anwar Ali may be..
Usman Khan was probably hard done, he also needs coaching and guidance for areas of bowling as well as variety.
Overall not a bad batting effort but 211 was just too much to chase
180+ would win you most T20 games
Bowlers had a bad day after a long time, it happens…shouldn’t analyze too much
Usman Shinwari’s (4 overs for 52 runs) example proves that the step up from domestic to international level is pretty big. He isn’t quite the finished article yet. He needs to go back to domestic and work on his weaknesses
And while Sohail Tanvir (4 overs for 31 runs in a high scoring game was a good return) may not be as good as Junaid or Irfan, he’s still better than the rest
^ lol. Shoaib is pure entertainment but he should keep his hath hola on the national team in general
As for Usman...not sure how we could judge a 20 year old rookie's bowling skills at Sharjah. It's not that he forgot to swing the ball, the conditions in Sharjah are not medium pace friendly. He was not moving the ball (nor was anyone else), bowling at an average of 135 kmh against Dilshan. Nobody senior enough at mid-on or mid-off to guide the boy. Disaster was in the making or was the poor boy framed by the captain to fail ?
I think both Sikander Bakht and Shoaib Akhtar are overcritical.
You cannot please everybody. Pakistan's batting is so unpredictable that they could have easily folded for 110-120 batting first. Then the same guys would be saying why Hafeez batted first when Pakistan won the first game after chasing a total!
Even Sri Lanka (in their wildest dreams) probably did not believe that they could post such a huge total (200+). Most sides would struggle to chase 160+ in T20I let alone 200+
Then the same guys would be saying why Hafeez batted first when Pakistan won the first game after chasing a total!
True. It is always easy for the 'experts' to pick the other side when a side loses. If Pak had batted first and posted 140 -150 on the board who is to say the young bowlers would have defended that total. Shoaib just went overboard with his comments. He enjoys being a marasi
He almost went after Moin Khan but I think Moin is doing a great job giving new talent an exposure. Now we know there is a Sharjeel, Sohaib, Khurram Manzoor, Shan Masood, Bhatti, Usman and others. Some will succeed and some will fail but glad to see new faces.
