Three Al-Qaeda associates arrested in Karachi
Thursday, 18 Feb, 2010 | 11:30 AM PST |
KARACHI: Three men closely linked to Al-Qaeda were arrested during raids in Karachi’s Gulshan-i-Iqbal area.
Intelligence officials arrested the three from Gulshan-i-Iqbal’s Block 17.
The names of two of the three were released: Kifayatullah and Abu Reyan Al Zarkazi also known as Abu Musa.
Abu Musa is a known associate of Osama Bin Laden and was notorious for firing down US drones in Waziristan.
He was also the commander of foreign combatants in Pakistan and prior to 9/11 travelled with Osama Bin Laden to Sudan.
The three were in Karachi to purchase mechanical parts from Sher Shah. Among other items purchased were washing machine timers — important components in time bombs. — DawnNews

Unfortunately there is a strong jihadi presence in Faisalabad for a few years. Some top Al Qaeda man was also arrested there. Increasingly, industrialists are beginning to connect with some of these guys and where there is money you can expect violent groups to follow.

I disagree with the Jihadi presence in Faisalabad, it's one of the most secure cities in Pakistan. With all the links to outside are access control.
As far the money concerned, yes i agree with that notion. But i don't believe that Talbanic ideology can take root in Faisalabad, it's totally opposite, yes people are not moderate but neither anywhere close to extremists.
Where ever their is money, that mean the industrial base provide enough jobs and perks to make people happy.
firenze,
Have you not seen LT/Jamaat Dawa and related people with large banners collecting funds, especially after Eid-ul adha? The big banners in black and white with slogans like "Qurbani kay khalain unkay liyay jinkay lahu Islam kay liyay" etc.? The jihadi virus is all over our land my friend. No place is free of it.

Yes i do, even back home family used to gave them the money, the qurbani ki khalein,.. but from last 5/6 years we are stopped.
The Jihadi virus was all over the land, you can look at the reaction too from certain parts of society, people are either getting way too moderate or in the process of moderation. IT's good, it will take time but the direction is right !
Re: 2nd Rank Taliban Commander captured from Karachi
But I thought there are no taliban in karachi. It surely is a conspiracy. You see the people they caught are all jewish, so when they americans found out, they purchased russian made mustaches bought from the UK and slipped it to musharraf's supporters, who in turn put them on these jewish men. The ISI then agreed, along with geo to call them talibani commanders.
whew. that explains it. now i feel so much better. i can now go to sleep, rest assured, because there are no taliban in the city.

Turns out these pigs are actually going to be used by the US to reintegrate the Taliban. WOW.
Re: 2nd Rank Taliban Commander captured from Karachi
these “pigs” as you call them, are pakistani assets, as per your military.
Jailed Taliban Leader Still a Pakistani Asset
by Gareth Porter, February 19, 2010
Contrary to initial U.S. suggestions that it signals reduced Pakistani support for the Taliban, the detention of Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, the operational leader of the Afghan Taliban, represents a shift by Pakistan to more open support for the Taliban in preparation for a peace settlement and U.S. withdrawal.
Statements by Pakistani officials to journalists prior to the arrest indicate that the decision to put Baradar in custody is aimed at ensuring that the Taliban role in peace negotiations serves Pakistani interests. They also suggest that **Pakistani military leaders view Baradar as an asset in those negotiations rather than an adversary to be removed from the conflict. **
Where does it say “Pakistani asset”? May be I missed something, but from the part you posted it said ‘asset in those negotiations’…

did you read the article's title, pal?
did you read the article's title, pal?
i like your new name queer !!
Re: 2nd Rank Taliban Commander captured from Karachi
and captain, you should read through the entire article. sheds a lot of light on the current flurry of taliban captures - mostly on how the ISI and army does not want its assets, the afghan taliban leaders in pakistan, to be negotiated with directly by the US.
Re: 2nd Rank Taliban Commander captured from Karachi
both possibilities cant be ruled out. zaid hamid lives on
Re: 2nd Rank Taliban Commander captured from Karachi
Well now they are American assets as well ![]()

can you understand and explain why your government needs and cosiders terrorist pigs as assets? even after suffering thousands of deaths inside Pakistan through suicide attacks, mosque bombings, wedding attacks, school attacks, ghq attacks etc, is it sane to be associating with these pigs?
