Re: 28 Nato oil tankers set ablaze in Islamabad

NATO is legitimate target for the muslim fighters. Anyone terrorizing muslims man woman or child with b 52 bombers and aircraft is a target so if they crying over few tankers good i hope they suffer much worse.

Thank God they aren’t Using bombers of the B52 classs… it’s just fighter bombers and drones now… besides it’s too costly for the NATO forces to call on bombers anymore… all the more chance the resistance has to hit back.

Millitarily this war is a Disaster but the US and it’s allies are too fond of the Clauswitz school of thought and think they can overwhelm the insurgency and the Taliban goons.

It’s high time someone stopped this “great game” becuase it’s just not war it’s slaughter… for both sides.

It is quite unfortunate that some choose to believe baseless conspiracy theories, such as NATO “orchestrating” attacks on its own supplies. No supposed pretext would justify doing such an irrational thing, given the enormity of our challenges in Afghanistan, and the Taliban have publicly taken credit for these attacks. Has anyone ever provided evidence of these fantasies? And doesn’t it give you pause to think that promoting such nonsense also gives undeserved cover for the extremists who are really responsible?
And javedmiandad – don’t you realize that it is the Taliban who are the ones terrorizing Muslims, both in Afghanistan and Pakistan?

Re: 28 Nato oil tankers set ablaze in Islamabad

I think you misunderstood my point. As you will no doubt be aware, the Pakistani government provides only limited security for the truck convoys. Most attacks take place when trucks have stopped for a break, and the level of protection provided by the government decreases. The prohibition on NATO combat operations in Pakistan forces the use of less effective, private Pakistani contractors to provide security at these vulnerable times.

My point is that the Pakistani government is fully capable of providing full security to the convoys if it desired. The fact that convoy attacks still occurs means that the government is choosing not to protect them from the Taliban to the fullest of its abilities - it is recklessly being deliberately negligent on the matter of convoy security.

Musharraf never played such a dangerous game - convoy attacks were rare on his watch. Zardari's government seems to be foolishly trying to pander to nationalist elements by refusing to fully protect NATO supplies. The astounding claims by the minister Rehman Malik that the people did these attacks despite the TTP taking credit is an example of this idiocy.
