re: 1st Quarter-Final: Pakistan v West Indies at Mirpur, Wed March 23
If Chris Gayle gets better and plays Pakistan will find it tough. One of the few things that chappel got right yesterday was the characterization that there is a good Pak side and a lousy Pak side. If they bring the good side and Gayle doesn't tear them apart, they will win. If not Pak will lose.
Quoting sore loser Chappell? Cmon dude, we are supporting India against kangaroos. You will need that support, especially against sore losers like Chappell...

brilliant analysis, either Pak will win if they play well or they will lose. How about a tie?
chappel is just a sore loser who is still burning from the thrashing his team received yesterday. On the other hand Aus will be dying to avenge their defeat at the hands of Pak. So beware. Another collapse like the recent two and Aus will walk thorugh the match. :)

Another challenging game. Hope we bring our A game! No need to take WI lightly. If we have to chase anything above 200 would be tough against Roach, Rampaul and Russel! Go Green! Beat them Windies!
even the new guy Bishoo was bowling with some discipline today. Pollard can be spirited too. Pak cannot beat this WI by normal game - their really good bowling should perform (which is not that unlikely) but in addition either Misbah or Younis should do an anchor with afridi et al doing their good cameo (which is unlikely). Overall I think Pak has a 40% chance of beating WI if Gayle shows up

yes Chappel was being an idiot during the PAK Aus game but I think he had a point about the bipolar nature of the Pak team. Yes it sounds corny to say 'Pak will win if they play well and lose if they don't' - that is a way of saying Pak determines its own fate in these matches with a lesser weight-age for who the opponent is

Chappell did not say anything new there. He is just bitter and acting like a sore loser of late. We have known this all along.
When people say Pakistan are unpredictable they are mainly referring to our inconsistent batting but what about the bowling? Our bowling has always been good and consistent. Infact Pakistan is one country that keeps churning out very good young fast bowlers like Aamer like anything. What about the bowling of other teams esp. India, England and Windies? It is as unpredictable & inconsistent as Pakistan's batting. Even if you look at the indian batting, it has all been Sachin and Sehwag show before today. They have been bailing them out in this world cup. The rest of the batters infact ruined all the good work in both the games against England and RSA.
As for Gayle if he fires, Windies will win most if not all of their games against any side, so that is not really exclusive to Pakistan
re: 1st Quarter-Final: Pakistan v West Indies at Mirpur, Wed March 23
Sure, you could have just said that
But really, I hate how people are like oh bring the good team, oh bring the rough team. It just seems like a crappy prediction or analysis. Meh I don’t know, I just like watching the game :hinna:
re: 1st Quarter-Final: Pakistan v West Indies at Mirpur, Wed March 23
How about Aussie and India La Parisienne?
It is like IF Sehwag plays his game and makes 200 AND Tendulkar makes 110 and IF Zaheer takes 9 wickets great and IF Dhoni makes another quick fire 50 and IF the pitch is like for England match AND if Australian bowlers bowl 3 no balls in every over and IF their batters throw their wickets away... then India has a 40% chance of winning.
re: 1st Quarter-Final: Pakistan v West Indies at Mirpur, Wed March 23
We shouldn't take this game too lightly but lets be realistic. West Indies suck. They haven't won an ODI against a team other than Bangladesh since 2009. Give me a break. We should bulldoze our way into the semis inshallah.
re: 1st Quarter-Final: Pakistan v West Indies at Mirpur, Wed March 23
you’re right - we should just enjoy the game regardless. Overall I am glad that instead of an Australian monopoly on quality that we had for several years now we have several teams (none of the 8 teams in QF can be written off) that field tough enjoyable games. Even England that lost a couple had each one of their games nail biters.

Good cricket ahead
As I have said many times before it is still anybody's World Cup. No team is clear favourite or outright better than others. Unlike in tests, in limited overs cricket it all comes down to how you play on the day (since there is no second chance or innings to remedy your mistakes with the bat)
