Re: 1st ODI Pakistan vs South Africa 30th October at Sharjah
There is no cure to this madness.
We have plenty of good bowlers and a lot of options in bowling department, ask them workout on batting as well. those who could not meet the requirement should be droped!

What about Umar Akmal, Umar Amin? They are specialists too, only 19 runs required when they got out!
Re: 1st ODI Pakistan vs South Africa 30th October at Sharjah
Pakistan's biggest problem is they have no idea how to bat or pace their innings in an ODI. They are nervous wrecks when chasing any total. Have absolutely no idea how to set a decent total or chase a modest target.
Once you have dismissed the opposition cheaply say for 150 (RRR: 3) or 200 (RRR: 4) in a 50-over game, it doesn't mean you go at a snail's pace yourself (i.e. score at 3 or 4 RPO respectively). This is our batsman's biggest weakness. If you score at a decent 5 an over right from the word go (regardless of the target) you completely shut the opposition out in modest run chases and don't let them a chance to get back into the game
This is the second time this year that Pakistan failed to pace their innings well during a small run chase. ((against India in 3rd ODI (target: 168) it was the same story in Jan 2013))
Contrast this with World Cup Final of 1999. I know there is daylight between our current batting and the Australian batting of 1999 and I know it was a hopeless situation (target: just 133) as far as Pakistan were concerned but any (false) hope Pakistan had of rallying after the break and causing an upset by dismissing Australia cheaply was quickly snuffed out by Gilchrist and co. who went at 6.5-7 an over against Wasim and co.
Re: 1st ODI Pakistan vs South Africa 30th October at Sharjah
it was total collapse of the batting line up so dont put it on Afridi alone.........Everyone played some pathetic shots
Did I say it was afridi alone responsible but when there was a mini collapse before he came than he should have batted responsibly, if you dont want to acknowledge than lets agree to say that every one was to blame except afridi, he cant do any wrong. Let it rest there.
Re: 1st ODI Pakistan vs South Africa 30th October at Sharjah
Afridi gets the major (if not the entire) blame because he was the last recognised batsman/all-rounder and as such should have realised his responsibility. He played a stupid shot at a time when just 8 runs were needed off 30 balls. He showed a complete disregard for both the match situation (required run rate) and the fact that he was the last remaining batsman/all rounder and hence people are upset. Although he started sensibly you knew that a brain fade was just around the corner and so it came. He seemed more concerned with finishing it off in style than taking his team across the finish line. If he got out to a good ball, he would not be singled out.
Afridi is in the team as an all rounder (admittedly an erratic one) and as such, he is expected to show responsibility with the bat in crucial situations like yesterday, especially given his experience. But what does he do instead? He walks in, slogs a boundary, and then gets out trying to repeat the shot. It also does not help that he has played many such innings over his long career.
Forget what the top order did but losing a game from 8 runs needed in 6 overs with a veteran of 360+ matches and an alleged all rounder due to a high risk shot is unforgivable
Re: 1st ODI Pakistan vs South Africa 30th October at Sharjah
Everyone's blaming everyone
Some people are even blaming Ajmal for the loss! Why the hell did he take a single when you knew that Irfan was a walking wicket?
i agree with Afridi bit...he played a very whimsical game but blaming Ajmal is NOT fair...he just wanted to take two, he had to settle with 1....that could have levelled the game at least.
