Re: 1971 war hero died...
State the source my friend? this is the first time i heard this and i have no statistics to prove it.
Indian muslims are not so big about USA, they prefer Saudi and Middle eastern countries. I guess 90% of indians in that region are muslims. Blame usa not india. I say its understandable.
Re: 1971 war hero died...
and who controls the Bollywood industry? or Bombay for that matter? Indian Muslims are far better off than religious minorities in Pakistan.
Re: 1971 war hero died…
Indian Muslims are not and should not be treated as a homogeneous community. They have sectarian, regional, caste and cultural differences which are quite crucial to the understanding of the problem. Most academics, unfortunately, and the Muslim leaders themselves, like to treat Indian Muslims as a homogeneous mass. Even in matters like literacy, family planning and economic development, there are regional and caste differences. If we have to understand the Muslim reality as a whole we will have to keep these differences in mind.
The position of Muslim men is somewhat better in terms of literacy. The percentage among the men is comparatively higher. But in the post-Babri demolition situation is changing favourably. Muslims are paying more attention to education and economic progress. They have also become quite conscious of female education and now more and more Muslim women are taking to education. According to one survey done by Shervani in U.P. the percentage of Muslim girls appearing for SSC examinations has increased. Not only that but the success rate of Muslim girls has jumped 19 times. That means Muslim girls are taking their studies much more seriously today than before 1990. This healthy trend seems to be persisting. Many Muslim girls are making it to the merit lists also. In Maharashtra three Muslim girls have made it to the merit list in the results declared a couple of days ago.
A large number of Muslims live in urban areas i.e. almost thirty per cent and a large number among the urban Muslims is that of artisans who come from lower castes. As pointed out above it is these lower castes who are more upwardly mobile compared to the mobility of the so called upper caste Muslims. It is because number of artisans are becoming small scale entrepreneurs and benefiting from their professional skills.

Don’t your lot, the Qadiannis control all the Baitul Khalas in Pakistan…
Re: 1971 Bangladeshi war hero died…
All of the Indian Muslims I have met (in US or KSA) they don’t even consider India as an alternative to go back. Does that tell you something? Some that have relatives left over in Pakistan and visited them were amazed by the stark contrast…
Therefore all of us mohajir Pakistanis should be thankful to our forefathers for making such a good decision.

Pick up any city in any third world country. There would be 'rich areas' and 'poor areas'? Now imagine what happens when the rich areas get destroyed? Overnight, the literacy levels, average income, life expectancy, et al drops? This is what happened to muslims in India. The literate and the better off moved to Pakistan leaving behind those who were typically at the bottom of the muslim society in undivided India. Some of you may remember that till the jehadi mentality spread in Pakistan, it was better off than India in most social and economic indices.
Have the muslims in India prospered in the last 58 years? Not much. But what is key is that the other religious communities have not prospered much either. At an aggregate level, hindu indices may appear to be slightly better than those of muslims, but one should remember that the hindu society had all strata in 1947 - the creamy one, the dregs and everything in between. The muslims had mainly the lower half. Now, there is not much difference in economic/ social indices between muslims and hindus performing similar occupations.
Rapid economic development has a primary requisite - education. If I have missed out on it, it will take a generation at least - 30-40 years - for my family to even think of moving up the economic ladder. This is true for all third world countries. This is what has begun to happen to the muslim society. The next generation has begun to focus on education. They will reap the benefits. Enough research has shown the correlation between women's literacy and better economic and social growth.
That is the way forward - not keeping young girls at home denying them their education
