Re: 16 April 2007 - Australia v Sri Lanka

I hope not.....................

Re: 16 April 2007 - Australia v Sri Lanka

NZ can beat Aus because they know Aussies better than anyone else...

SL 189/8 off 45.4 overs...better hit now than only losing wickets for nothing...

Re: 16 April 2007 - Australia v Sri Lanka

SL 226/10 off 49.4 overs...moderate target for Aus...

But it won't be easy for Aus because at this time...SL have inducted some background bowlers...

Re: 16 April 2007 - Australia v Sri Lanka

Are the keeping Malinga and Murali out of this game as an strategy for final. Anyway it doesnt matter if SL wins or lose this game. They will still be either 2 or 3 and hence they will not play AUS in semis.

Re: 16 April 2007 - Australia v Sri Lanka

Wow...SL sure got lost...at 163/3 in the 30odd over....to 226 all out short of the 50 over mark...

SL might have taken things too lightly and now they are lacking bowling fire power.
If they loose with Australia jsut sweeping them aside, it will hit their morale big time.

Re: 16 April 2007 - Australia v Sri Lanka

I dont think it will because they have delibrately didnot play their 2 best bowlers. They were ok if they lost.

Re: 16 April 2007 - Australia v Sri Lanka

now Lankans will fight for their nation unlike India :aj:

If they lose in todayz match so phante should be hit on the Tharanga & Sangakkaraz bums

Re: 16 April 2007 - Australia v Sri Lanka

Bad opening over by Fernando...Aus 11/0 off 1.3 overs...

Re: 16 April 2007 - Australia v Sri Lanka

wow...they dont even has Vas. I think SL are doing everything right here ;)

Re: 16 April 2007 - Australia v Sri Lanka

**Sri Lankan game strategy: **Lose today to win tomorrow.:DWell, I believe they are trying to work on this strategy. :)

Australia could not afford to lose, as that would affect their record of undefeated side for so many games. Sri Lanka can. Thus, Sri Lanka can choose who to play in semi final, not Australia. I believe, that is what Sri Lanka is doing. They have chosen NZ as their opponent for semi final.

Nevertheless, Sri Lanka also showed to Australia that their fire power could go well down their batting line and even if they lose their higher ups, they can still put a reasonable total. Australian bowling attack could not scare them, as it did to Irish players. Normally one collapse can make a team go down, SL had two collapses, one in the beginning, and other in middle, still to put 226 against Australian bowling attack is something.

A total of 226 may be not enough, but with Sri Lanka full bowling attack, the would include Vass, Murali, and Malinga, that total is also reasonable.
