Sounds like an endorsement for BLA if you replace Uyghurs with "Balochs"...
silly rioters! should be arrested, and tried according to the law, not to mention the deaths that were caused. Very tragic. May the deceased rest in peace.
To the cynical remarks up there, and the obvious stench of sarcasm: Pakistan and China are indeed good friends, and this is China's internal matter. Xinjiang is not a disputed international matter like Palestine or Kashmir. So even comparing the two is a long shot, which doesn't measure up.
China gets a thumbs up, instigators (read instigating separatist leaders sitting in U.S. stirring trouble in native land using pawns) get a big thumbs down!
Quite conveneint.. what makes any region disputed.. Claim by some foreign nation or claim of the local people for separate nation..
BTW you are right these Uoighurs people do nto belong there.. just like Muhd BiN Qasim and BiN Zayed was sent to India and Spain at the same time Mustafa Bin Muslim was sent to CHina .. all for obvious reasons of conquering the world and bringing it under Islamic flag.
These Uighurs muslims are the remnants of that islamic invader and they in fact identify with Turkey .. So logically soeaking they have no stake in any part of China..
What's wrong with this guys.Of couse ,the riots in China is an internal matter ,the other country couldn"t interfer it .I think the chinese would be able to deal with it well. And in the other way,the rioters deserve to be punished. They killed and injuried a lot innocent person even include some childen, they destoried some shops, buildings ,not only the han chinese but also some Muslims were hurt too, this is hard to believe, only the evils can do it.
I am so surprised I have seen rioters IN J/K romaing around with rose petals in their hands.. This vilent rioting seems to be first of its kind
where is the outrage among the muslims that 140 muslim brothers and sisters have been killed by atheist chinese?
Exactly. China may be a friend of Pakistan, but is not a friend of Muslims. Sooner or later, there will be a falling out between Islam and the Godless, kaffir Chinese.

IN fact communist parties were all but wiped from panistan and bangaldesh same communist party which supported both the causes of pakistan and bangladesh..
BTW similar kind of silence writs large over Sudan too.. despite the fact that Sudan is 100 times much worse than palestine and Iraq..
Where's UN?
oh i see this isn't about Iran.
where are the muslim demonstrations outside chinese embassies?
oh i see this isnt about the palestinians
where is the outrage among the muslims that 140 muslim brothers and sisters have been killed by atheist chinese?
Of course, it won't come. Muslims suffer from two forms of westoxication.
The first form is from the liberal, the West-is-best-and-can-do-no-wrong-and-even-when-it-does-it's-still-the-best crowed. Old hat.
The not so well known form is from those who constantly spit vitriol against the West, can see no good from the West, yet so deeply and intensely CARE about what the West thinks and does in regards to Muslims. In fact, they could care less about what their fellow Muslim thinks, and though they may speak the tune of pan-Islamism they have no idea what's going on in other parts of the Muslim world with exception of one or two pet causes.
No doubt, among this crowed, the thinking is that the Chinese Muslims deserve it for living in such a god forsaken place to begin with...and just like in Bosnia, the question isn't what we can do to stand up to the Chinese brutality, it will be why isn't the all-powerful, all-concerned champion of Humanity, the West, doing anything about it...and rather than feel anger to those who are actually committing the crime, these westoxicated fools are so fixated that they would rather use such incidents as a cause for glee, as it gives them a tool to show Western hypocrisy over their endless pontificating.
Given the overt anti-Muslim/racist behaviour of the Chinese, I think it's fair to suppose that if there is no reconciliation out of this, then Pakistan should look seriously for new "friends". The Uigyar have been made minorities in their own homeland, and have been shut out of society by the Chinese, in spite of their so-called universalist principles. Is this Pakistan's fate?

all reports in the western media seem to indicate it to be a case of uighurs going on a rioting rampage and killing han chinese. and not of uighurs being oppressed. was listening to a bbc reporter in xinjiang, and he was saying the uighurs simply refuse to talk to any journalists while the han were cooperative and wanted to talk about the riots.

death to china

All reports? Not quite.
Most sane reports suggest that there are clashes between Uighyar and Han mobs, and that the motivation has been indeed the marginalization of the former within their own lands, and with a particular incident serving as the last straw. China has race problems, period. Go ask the Tibetans...
Re: 140 killed, 800 hurt in China riots
I think that the "spark" of this incident was in some factory were some Uigher men raped a Han chinese girl. This led the Han mob attack on the Uighers workers in the factory.
Which led to UIghers attacking anyone who looked like Han chinese...
I don't know about others, but to me all chinese look the same
where is the outrage among the muslims that 140 muslim brothers and sisters have been killed by atheist chinese?
Would you mind reading the news again? it is the muslim brothers and sisters on the killing spree :P
Re: 140 killed, 800 hurt in China riots
This article was in metro today:
Metro - If only Uighurs were Buddhist
If only Uighurs were Buddhist
Pity the Uighurs — the wrong kind of minority fighting the wrong kind of enemy.
In China’s worst ethnic unrest in years, Uighurs took to the streets of Urumqi, capital of Xinjiang, on Sunday. They are believed to have been angered by government handling of a June clash between Han Chinese and Uighur factory workers in southern China, where two Uighurs died, news agencies reported.
The Chinese government quickly blamed exiled separatists, arrested dozens and tried to curb information flow by stifling the Internet. Yesterday, Han Chinese armed with iron bars and machetes went looking for revenge on Uighurs.
But as Reuters pointed out, the underlying cause of the unrest most likely was long-standing economic, cultural and religious grievances that have built up among the Uighurs over decades of tight central rule.
If only the Uighurs were Buddhists like the Tibetans, who just 18 months ago had their own uprising in Tibet’s capital Lhasa. We’d be having Free Xinjiang concerts already courtesy of Bjork, Sting, Bono and all those other one-named saviors of the poor and oppressed.
If only the Uighurs were a minority in a country that didn’t produce half the goods we use and which wasn’t quickly threatening to turn into a superpower. Perhaps then the U.S. State Department would issue more threatening words of its own. Instead, they’re Muslim and us Muslims don’t get much love these days. And just as importantly, the Uighurs are facing off with the wrong kind of enemy. If the “West” ignores Uighurs because they’re not as cuddly as the Tibetans or their leader the Dalai Lama, then where are the Uighurs’ fellow Muslims? Uighurs are a Turkic people who are largely Muslim.
Many Muslims pay attention only when the U.S. and Israel are doing the oppressing. China is the wrong kind of enemy. Look at Darfur, where the suffering goes ignored because its victims are black and because those who are creating the misery in Darfur are not Americans or Israelis. We only pay attention when America and Israel behave badly.
Speaking of Darfur, China is one of Sudan’s biggest trade and arms partners. Sudanese President Omar Bashir, who last year wanted to try a British teacher for insulting Muslims by naming a class teddy bear “Mohammed,” won’t be rushing to condemn Chinese oppression of Uighurs.
So perhaps Israel can save the day and invade Xinjiang.
There is one problme though Buddhist tibbetan or anyone else have roots in that land going back to 5000+ years and whereas Uighurs associate themselves to turkey and are desecendants of a foreign invader named Bin Muslim..
BTW china expects its friends to make their stand clear Pakistan included and condemn Uighurs separatism and terrorism
Re: 140 killed, 800 hurt in China riots
Its events like this that China will never become a superpower......

I don't think these things matetr Chionese have been indulged in this sort of activity since eons yet they have developed beyond imagination..
Muslim states ‘silent’ on Uighurs](Breaking News, World News and Video from Al Jazeera)
A leading Uighur rights activist has criticised Muslim-majority countries for not speaking out against decades of alleged repression and persecution from the Chinese government.
Speaking in Washington on Monday, Rebiya Kadeer, a businesswoman who was jailed for years in China before being released into exile in the US, hit out at what she said was decades of “brutal suppression” of Muslims in China’s western Xinjiang region.
Speaking after a day of unrest in Xinjiang left at least 150 people dead, Kadeer pointed to the lack of response from Muslim countries to the violence and the situation faced by the Uighurs.
“Muslim countries such as Pakistan, Afghanistan, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Syria and a number of other Muslim countries as well as the central Asian states like Kazakhstan Kurdistan and Uzbekistan - they all deported Uighurs who had fled Chinese persecution for peacefully opposing Chinese rule, for writing something, for speaking something,” she said.
“Those sent back to China were either killed or sentenced to life in jail.”
She said the lack of action from Muslim countries contrasted with support given by other governments.
“Our only friend is in the West - Western democracies are supporting us and we are very grateful,” Kadeeer, who heads the World Uighur Congress, told reporters.
“We certainly hope that more Muslim countries will raise our situation.”
‘Propaganda’
Kadeer attributed the lack of action from Muslim countries to what she said was the success of Chinese “propaganda” to the Muslim world.
“So far the Islamic world is silent about the Uighurs’ suffering because the Chinese authorities have been very successful in its propaganda to the Muslim world.”
That propaganda, she said, sent a message to the Muslim world “that the Uighurs are extremely pro-west Muslims - that they are modern Muslims, not genuine Muslims.”
At the same time, she said, to Western countries the Chinese government “labelled Uighur leaders as Muslims terrorists with links to al-Qaeda - so the propaganda has been pretty effective on both sides.”
Thelim Kine, an Asia researcher from New York-based Human Rights Watch, told Al Jazeera that Beijing’s accusations of Uighur links to “terrorist” groups had intensified since the 9/11 attacks in the US.
“Because they are Muslim they have been accused of carrying out what the government calls ‘terrorist activities’, as well as being linked to various organisations like al-Qaeda,” he said.
‘Mastermind’
China’s government has blamed Uighur exiles for stoking the recent unrest, singling out Kadeer for “masterminding” the riots – claims she rejected as “completely false”.
While she admitted that some Uighurs had been carried out attacks during Sunday’s unrest, she said the violence was a symptom of Uighur frustration and resentment at China’s repressive policies.
Her group, she said, has repeatedly called for only peaceful protests and urged all sides to exercise restraint.
As protests continue in Xinjiang and police arrest hundreds after the riots, Kadeer called for an international investigation into the unrest.
“We hope that the United Nations, the United States and the European Union will send teams to investigate what really took place in Xinjiang,” she said.
“We hope the White House will issue a stronger statement urging the Chinese government to show restraint, and also to tell the truth of the nature of the events and what happened, and to tell the Chinese government to redress Uighur grievances.”

Uighurs associate themselves to Turkey?
Turks are not originally from Turkey - they invaded and took it over. Turks originated from Central Asia. The Uighers are Turks who never left their homeland.

Yet somehow they idenityfy with turkey instead of their original land china..
Otherwise what is the basis of demand of separate land..
Re: 140 killed, 800 hurt in China riots
Turkish and Uyghur people are both **Turkic **i.e. speak languages belonging to the Turkic family.
Similarly, Uzbeks, Azerbaijanis, Tatars & Hazaras are also Turkic.
