Re: 11 Year Old from Rabwah, Pakistan sets World Record in O-Level
Unfortuntely, this kid is from Rabwa...If this kid was from any where else in Punjab, the Punjabi Govt (read Raiwind Govt) would bend over backword to recognize what was done, Invited her to Lahore, give her madels....User this opportunity as show piece to prove that how good is the punjab govt to recognize the talented Pakistanis.
But damn it, this kid is from Rabwa (and we all know what that means) and any recognition on a higher level for her from the punjab govt or federal govt (PPP) would mean losing the religious goon's support.
Well we all know how much a certain Nobel Laureate from Jhang, Punjab, Pakistan was appreciated in his own country :(

When O/A level students have high achievements, trust me, I was there myself a decade ago, its not the Pakistani or prov. Govt that comes to take credit or recognize the students because they have nothing to do with this educational marvel. It is conducted by an international examinations body based in England and the students are helped by private institutions or tutors. We are actually lucky they dont step forward and take credit for something outside their jurisdiction. It is usually the British Council that takes precedence and awards scholarships to these students and conducts ceremonies and issues press releases for them.
