100 Posts Bash

Re: 100 Posts Bash

Nope

Re: 100 Posts Bash

If you can read the Arabic in the Quran, then you can read Urdu. You just haven’t tried. There’s only a few difference in letters and phonemes b/w the two languages.

Re: 100 Posts Bash

I’m not great at reading Arabic either. :sid:
I can make out bits and pieces. Of course, with Arabic, I have NO idea what I’m reading. I learned to read without the meaning. Urdu is tough…it doesn’t have the accents to make out the vowel sounds. I contort my mouth a billion times before I settle on something that sounds familiar.

Re: 100 Posts Bash

Arabic isn’t our first language so naturally we can’t comprehend what we’re reading…but point is you can still read it…which means you can read some Urdu words as well. If you were to come across bay and alif and tay…you’d be able to read it easily as “baat” which means “talk” in urdu. Similarly if you come across…ray…alif…and tay…you’d read it easily as “raat” which means night in Urdu. So, you can read it. You’re just not fully aware of it.

Very impressive and emotional performance.

Re: 100 Posts Bash

Oh Southie…there’s such a sannaata on this forum that if anyone makes it to the 100th post…it’s like a bomb dropping. There was a time when so many people were actively posting here every day that the 100th post was more like a single firework/flare. I’m feeling introspective right now, hence the melancholy. :smokin2:

Re: 100 Posts Bash

What is mulkik kitakkiratu I say? Will you be my Tamil guru?

Re: 100 Posts Bash

I’m afraid I can’t be your guru. My tamil is too advanced for you. You must first start with a more elementary teacher of Tamil…like Monk.
