  • And now Shahbaz Sharif..

been arrested by NAB. He's the opposition leader.

There are news that Kh. Saad Rafique and others will be arrested tomorrow or later too.

Meanwhile Musharraf was last seen playing Golf and smoking Cigars while watching Cricket match.

Zardaris and other PPP leaders are free as well.

And nobody should talk about Malik Riaz. He's never seen corruption in his life.

The only tabdeeli we have seen so far in Nya is that Pak is going to be PML-N free very soon.
Supporters of Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, the brother of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, said the detention was politically motivated.

The Opposition purge is nothing new in Eastern countries, specially in Pakistan.

After Bhutto, Zia did the largest purge making all possible efforts to erase PPP giving some of the worst punishments ever.

In 90s first PPP then Nawaz did the same with MQM. The worst extra-judicial ever.

And then Musharraf came, took MQM in his blessings and put Nawaz behind bars. Saudis bailed Nawaz to let him survive.

And now again, its pretty much same setup run by the men behind stage are doing with PML-N. Most likely IK would have no clue what the heck is going on while his interior minister is hinting that there'll be more crackdown.

I can put a bet here that the country will only be taken aback with these vendettas.

Yes, a historic statement in court by beloved CJ that either Malik Riaz pay 1 trillian Rs. in Dam fund or the case will be considered on merit.

            The historic verse

"Leke Rishwat Phans gya hai , deke Rishwat choot ja.."

            has changed into

"Leke Rishwat phans gya hai deke DAm fund chanda choot jaa.."

He is paying the price for what he said a few years ago regarding holy cows. These cows will never spare you if you utter a single word against them. I opened a thread on this a long time ago. The report published in daily dawn by Ceryl Alemida who was in hot waters for some time by the military. The report he published was later known as 'Dawn Leaks'. What SS said at that time perhaps he never realized that it would come to haunt him in the future at the right moment. NS and his daughter were also victim of this. I have a great doubt if they are punished for corruption. CJP and others are acting on behalf of military. Even if they were cleaned, they would have been punished by installing false cases and put them in jail or hanged.

Exclusive: Act against militants or face international isolation, civilians tell military

In response to Foreign Secretary Chaudhry?s conclusions, Gen Akhtar asked what steps could be taken to prevent the drift towards isolation. Mr Chaudhry?s reply was direct and emphatic: the principal international demands are for action against Masood Azhar and the Jaish-i-Mohmmad; Hafiz Saeed and the Lashkar-e-Taiba; and the Haqqani network.

To that, Gen Akhtar offered that the government should arrest whomever it deems necessary, though it is unclear whether he was referring to particular individuals or members of banned groups generally. At that point came the stunning and unexpectedly bold intervention by Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif.

Addressing Gen Akhtar, the younger Sharif complained that whenever action has been taken against certain groups by civilian authorities, the security establishment has worked behind the scenes to set the arrested free. Astounded onlookers describe a stunned room that was immediately aware of the extraordinary, unprecedented nature of the exchange.

Why do you sound like Maryam Aurangzeb?

The Saaf pani and ashiana scandals are huge..not pocket change. And Shahbaz Sharif used his power to manipulate them. His problem is that his cronies Fawad hassan Fawad and Ahad Cheema spilled the beans against him. Same is the case with Saad RAfiquq.

As for Musharraf, yes, he is overseas playing golf, but so was Nawaz Sharif when he took an NRO, and so was Benazir when she was in exile. So is Ishaq Dar now.

Case against Zardari is being built on a gradual basis. There is a long list of fake accounts that have been unearthed, and so far, noone has spilled the beans against him, but thats because he is brutal. First hand knowledge of his brutality when he was in jail during Musharraf tenure! But sooner or later, someone will gather the courage to do so.

Malik Riaz is also on the line. Tons of land has been repossessed from him. Investigation is ongoing.

Dont know who is MA you are referring to but whats evident here is this as a clear political victimization. Its no rocket science for anyone to understand whats going on. Its been more than an year when only one party is pushed to the wall and its made sure that they are weakened enough not the challenge the powerful military.
And in a country where elected members can be easily bought by Jahangir tareen, a treason case is made against a journalist, how long it takes to get some witnesses?

Maryam Aurangzeb = spokeswoman for PMLN.

This is not the 90s anymore. People dont rely on PTV, or Pakistan times to get information, They have it all on the tip of their fingers in the palm of their hands. There is a reason why noone came out to protest NAwaz and Maryam's arrest. There is a reason why there is no lockdown even on Shahbaz Sharif's arrest. 'Political victimization' is a phrase Sharifs and Bhutto?Zardaris have used for years to hide their crimes. It was victimization or targeting when PMLN and PPP were doing it to each other, because both parties were known for using FIA and POlice as their personal servants...but the scenario is vastly different now.
As for Cyril Almeida, the issue was between him and PMLN....not anyone else. PMLN fed him a story, and he printed it. His confirmation was that the news came from PMLN, the horses mouth. PMLN realized it had placed itself in a bad position by feeding him a lie....and thus began the game of cat and mouse.

The sooner we get rid of these hereditary diseases, the better. Political parties need to stop pandering to generations of their leige lords and start using their heads.

Silaaj, will you pro-PTI if and when Imran goes berserk and acts against corruption in the armed forces?
Lot of PTI supporters give army a pass as a "holy cow" when they have done corruption be it in Ukraine tank deal, purported corruption in Agosta submarines which led to the 2002 bombing against the French in karachi or kickbacks in excess of $200 million in F-16 deal. We won't know especially about the F-16 deal and if it happened since there are no investigations and culprits usually go free instead of being demoted AND put in jail along with loss of benefits like civilized countries.

This is funny. Just because PTI won the elections, hence it had establishment backing? Just becuase all other govts of the past had estalishment links (widely proven), it means PTI has had them too?

Go through the Almeida story, and see how it folded. PMLN tried to play a slick hand, and got caught.

Um.. PTI won the elections because one party's political leadership was sealed in a cage. Its called pre-election rigging. Go ask students of journalism or political sciences.

And ask anyone who is entirely nuetral. PTI is the face of Pakistani establishment. DUH.

Why not? Corruption in every department needs to be tackled with an iron fist. Its a different matter that the armed forces perhaps have the "best" internal audit system of all the institutions we have. I quoted that, because i know it leaves a lto to be desired, but you wont find any other institution with an internal audit system the way armed forces have.

Supreme Court can order an independent audit but I am pretty sure that they can't butt in to tell the military to do something. Aside from hidden power of the boys, they can claim that military is run by their own rules.

Parliament can theoretically question the military but the military hasn't had a stellar record of showing up or even giving up the information. I am not extreme like some well known jiyalas here who to abolish the army and ISI but they need to be held accountable. For starters, ISI should not be used for internal matters of Pakistan but instead, it should be IB and police as it should be per Pakistan's laws. ISI also needs to be run in the fashion of CIA instead of being a londi of the army. Army can't have control of ISI and MI at the same time.

yes, Parliament can ask. When Shuja Pasha and Kayani were summoned by Zardari and co., NS told Shuja pash to not to intervene in politics. Shuja replied that I can show you videos of politicians came to my office to get political edge, you show me proof of my employees involvement.
That, I wont say army is not involved in politics but politicians cannot get upper hand until they actually get united and stop being fake savior of democracy.
When Zardari speaks against military, SS comes to defend, and when NS criticized army, khursheed shad defended army.
